Thread: Good place to loot re-8 engines ?

Anyone have any tips or locations of what to kill to get some good looted engine components?
I am looking for some re-8 parts if possible

I'd like to know too .. mastered pilot months ago and haven't looted a single re lvel 8 engine yet

It isn't a "place" you're looking for, it's a particular tier enemy. Kill Tier 3's. LOTS of Tier 3's.

There was a post here before (cant find it although searched) that used to list what ships dropped what comps.. ie ywings = reactors

I find the best loot to drop from various pirates. My favorite prey are the Evil Tyrant Raiders, Hutts, Valarians and Black Suns. Here are some locations for them:
Hutts + Valarians (Tier 1, but they DO drop up to Level 7 loot) Tatooine System, close to the Miner's Yard
Evil Tyrant Raiders (Tier 3) Red Sin Chimaera, Endor. VERY fast spawn point.
Black Sun (Tier 3) All over Dantooine System. Beware of gunboats if you're not an Ace.

No problem. 
I should mention that the Evil Tyrant Raiders are "disable and capture" targets for Smuggler's Alliance missions. So if you're camping that spawn point, please keep that in mind. If some newbie in a Dunelizard pops up and starts complaining, you may be preventing someone from finishing up a Tier 2 box. hehehe.

Most of my level 8 loot comes from tier 4 fighters. Tier 3 fighters are far more likely to drop level 6 parts. Loot is pretty random though and I also pick up alot oflevel 10 parts from the tier 4s. If I ever master I should be able to put together a nice MP ship.

I've found that, if you're looking for a certain level of loot, divide its level in half and go kill that tier of ship. Want level 8 stuff? Go kill tier 4s. Level 10, tier 5s. Fractions can go either way--level 7 gear's likely to drop from both tier 3s and 4s.
I'd recommend running a few (or a few dozen) tier 4 duty missions here. Most likely you'll end up with a fair selection of level 8 engines.

I really want to get a low mass re lvl 8 engine, so i can build up my starmap quest with a lower mass and hopefully getter stats all round

lol the best place for 4.s is endor i get all my 8's in ds and endor some from dath
