My ? regarding this mission is the Rebel Command ship can anyone please tell me If there is a "safe" zone when fighting it. From behind I get nailed, Which approach is best?

I just finished this mission last night.
Hit it from underneath, there aren't an turrets there. -- Just wait till later in the mission. Had an Ace friend along and I still almost got killed.
The secret to the mission is to go out and invest in a Heavy TIE, the extra mass really comes in handy.
