Hey all,

So I flew all of the missions from the Kashykk station, and from the Rebel Oupost in the system. Now I was sent to Kessel to engage/capture a Blockade Runner/Corellian Corvette. Now, I am flying an X-Wing with about 1800 shields and like 1100 armor front and back. Is there ANY way that a single pilot can solo this mission? Or, do I need to gather a group to help me get the Adv. X-Wing chassis? I am currently a 4-3-3-4 pilot using level 7 and below equipment. Is there any trick to doing it?

I was unable to even knowck out a single turret before the thing crushed me.

Yes. Don't disable the corvette until it gets really close to the Kash station. If you capture it before it's suppossed to leave then the gunships will show up only in time to see the Corvette Hyperspace away... it takes some good timing though.

wait until the vette is approx 5.8k from the rebel outpost before disabling.

I soloed this mission twice (or rather the missions for the Vaksai and the RG TIE) Your shield strenght and armor is approx the same as I use. For hints as to disable the vette follow one of the easy to use vette guides.

The hard part is actually what comes after;

3 waves of fighters (fairly easy to take care off)

1 wave of some fighters and a gunboat

and finally

1 wave with a couple of fighters and 2 gunboats

What will kill you here is the gunboats, they fly 899, hunt you once you shoot at them and they hit pretty hard

the trick is to ignore the fighters, tag a gunboat and run like hell

when the 2 remaining gunboats pop in, hit them as well (otherwise they can take out the vette)

You now have atleast 2 hopefully all 3 gunboats running after you (assuming you fly faster than 1100 ~1300 with boosters

Once this is done, make sure you are atleast 1k away from the nearest gunship, turn around and do a head 2 head pass on them, you can hit them and fly past boosting out... be sure to be targetting their engines... once you kill their engines, let them be (they will selfdestruct after a while) and move on to the next one

A few thing to know about gunboats

They have a blind spot beneath their hull, while -almost- useless in this case, it still give you a relatively safe exit vector, so whenyou do the head to head passes make sure your exit vector is like 45-90 degree off their flightpath

Youll need atleast the following

90+speed engine (preferably faster contact your local SW for a crafted lvl 7 with experimenting in speed)

Id swap the shields for a lvl 8 reward shield (or possibly a crafted lvl 7 (I can make these with 1950 shieldstrenght)

a fast Droid interface 15 speed atleast

guns capable of destroying them (crafted lvl 7 quickfires or REd lvl 7s)

Armor if you have room for it

a capacitor with as much power as you can find at a reasonable price (and ofcourse capable of pulling your guns)

Also remember when deciding between the 3rd gun and more defence/faster engine, go with the best speed/defence you possibly can

While this is certainly possibly in a XWing it is lightyears easier in a AWing or Heavy Z95

If all this fails try and find some nice people with good equipment (if youre on Bloodfin gimme a call) and have them do it for you (its more personally rewarding doing it solo though)

Well enough rambling, hope this helped at all

I solo'd this mission in a Bwing. I had to drop one of my beam weapons and equip a space bomb launcher. That enabled me to do it.

My B wing was equipped with massive firepower (2 level 10 and 1 level 8 weapons) such that the fighters that originally escorted the corvette were no trouble. I took them out, waited until the corvette was 6000 m from the rebel station, shot 1 spacebomb at weapon 5, 1 spacebomb at main shield, 1 spacebomb at secondary shield, then 1 spacebomb at the engine. Wham -- disabled. Then the rebels re-took the corvette and it was just a matter of fighting the waves of attackers until we reached the station. It got a little dicey at the end when a gunboat showed up, but I managed to get the corvette there and survive long enough to claim the reward.

Fun!

Soloed this yesterday in my B-Wing. Equipment was mostly Nym's reward stuff with 4 ~2400-2600 guns and an Image Rec II launcher (I was out of space bombs and couldn't find any packs for sale conveniently).

No real problems on the mission. B-Wing is a tad difficult to dog fight with, but no real problems.

Wait till at LEAST 5500m from the Rebel station before disabling the Vette. The longer it has to fly on "escort" mode, the more waves you will get and the harder they will get. I disabled around 5300 and right as the first gunboat jumped in, the mission ended.

Easiest way to do this mission........

1- pull escort fighters away (DO NOT hit the vette....it doesn't shoot at you until you shoot at it) and kill them.

2- Pull up low and behind the vette (about the bottom of the enginge cluster, 125m behind it)

3- Target the main sheild.......hit it with Proton 3 missiles (2 should do the trick)

4- Target backup sheilds........same as step 3

5- Target engines and disable them with blasters.

That's it, the guys on the ship take over from there......and because you left the turrents opperational THEY will take care of the gunboats. Just help kill the fighters when they spawn, and leave the gunboats to the vette.

As a side note........ Unless they changed the mission around I NEVER got hit by the vette. I tried taking on the gunboats, and almost died. I limped back for repairs....and got the mission complete nessage while I was at the station. The key to this is missiles DO NOT require line of sight to work.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the good advice guys. Hey, one question though. I am not too skilled with missiles. It seems like nobody on my server (Tempest) uses proton torps. At least I have never found them above the mk. I p-torps. All I have is image rec. missiles...will they do the trick?

The Vette bugged out on me once yesterday, however. I think that may have been what the original poster experienced.

First time I tried it in my regular X-wing. I cleared out the escort, came up below the Vette, targetting Gun 5, intending to take it out and make my life easier. I verified several times that I was UNDER the vette, closed on Gun 5, got up close to it, blew it into tiny little bits from close range, WATCHING it break and fall off the vette and then I proceeded to get pummelled by every single other gun on the Vette. They pulled a "star destroyer" and were shooting me through the body of the ship, LOS be damned.

When I came back with my B-wing, I had no problems being anywhere out of LOS near the underside of the Vette.

At this time, the gun 5 mount is currently bugged to have a vertical access, however it goes fully up and down, not side to side Believe, which screws up the directions the lasers can fire.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me. I thought I was doing everything right and then BOOOOOOM! I was gone in less than 7 seconds.

Having only done this vette yesterday, I can't confirm, but maybe someone else can.

Is there a spot in the front section of the underside of the vette where the upper guns can fire through? That happened to me at the Gun 5 point yesterday but when I went again and hung back a bit on the underside, nothing could hit me. Or was it just buggy? Sounds mine wasn't an isolated incident.

Thank you for this suggestion. It worked like a champ. As a caution, once you disable the engines continue to stay behind the engines until the crew takes over the Vette. Even though the engines are disabled, the guns are not. I flew out from behind itafter I disabled it and nearly ended the mission. Fortunately, I made it out of range before I was a pile of space debris.

With the guns still live on the Vette, it makes it very easy to finish. Avoid the gunboats and take out the fighters. Once you get the mission completed high tail it out of there if there are any stragglers. They will attack you immediately. You can even jump out of the system and go back to the Reb station laterto get your heavy X-wing.
