Thread: My ideas for improving the Fighters. Mass ect:

Heavy-X-Wing: Reduce mass by 20k. Leave manueverability the level it is.

X-Wing: Increase YPR slightly.

A-Wing: Increase masss to 70k MAX.(logic: these have shields, but JSF do not canonically. JSF should be much more manueverable but have less mass.) Increase Roll.

B-Wing: Increase YPR slightly.

Heavy-95: Decrease YPR and max speed to be equal with an X-Wing.

Reasoning: The X-Wing was designed as a complete step up from the Z-95. It should not have significantly better manueverability. But it is smaller so I would say have it equal with the X-Wing.

ARC-170: Have weapons fire slightly inward as to counter their far apartness.

Nova: Decrease mass into a level where masss would matter. And add Mega high mass super comps.

Tie Fighter: Leave as is.

Heavy Tie Fighter: Decrease mass at the same % the Heavy X is different from the normal X-Wing.

Tie Interceptor: Add one gun port.(They had 6 blasters, 2 on each wing, 2 bellow cockpit)

Remove shields from NPCs(they were shieldless like the normal Tie)

Tie Bomber: Add one Ordinance.

Tie Avenger: Leave as is.

Tie Oppressor: Leave as is.

Jedi Star Fighter: Increase YPR reasonably. Decrease mass to 60k.

(Before you spam me: I read the Encyclopedia and the Cross section and these are supposed to be shieldless, superfast Interceptors. They are the size of some landspeeders. They are canonically supposed to be very low mass, and very fast and manueverable)

This is not to nerf the JSF, it is simply to bring it in aliance with the canon, semi-canon.

Decimater: Same as Nova.

Leave all as is.(know nothing about them lol)

Reduce YPR and max speed on Bell. Add one more weapon slot.(it has 6.)

Decrease mass to 75k

YT-1300: Same on Nova.

Uh, I disagree. Each ship is unique and the properly fitted ship can go up against just about anything. I don't like the idea of nerfing ANY of the ships...as by leaving it alone, it encourages the serious pilots to play scavenger until they find the perfect parts to RE. Each ship already has its benefits and drawbacks. Yes, the JSF and greivous are some of the best, but an Awing with a super RE job can take them...Leaph does it often enough. And a full broadside by a heavy X or a Tie Oppressor can kill quite a few small mass ships in one shot. Each ship is suited for different fly styles, which is nice. I don't want space combat turned into NASCAR.

Your choice.

Point? I never said otherwise.

I don't like the idea of nerfing ANY of the ships...as by leaving it alone, it encourages the serious pilots to play scavenger until they find the perfect parts to RE.

If you had read what I said, I wanted them to be more in line with the Star Wars universe.

I really don't care whether they beet me in a dog fight either. That is not why I want the mass lower. I want the mass lower because iyt is supposed to be really light.

The Jedi Star Fighter ETA-II Actis Interceptor is about the size if a Speeder. It was designed as a super manueverable Interceptor that only a Jedi could take true advantage of.(crap! I ended that sentence in a preposition!)It is Supposed to be light. Very very Light.

It doesn't even have a Shield(according to the Crosssection)or a Hyperdrive.

Each ship already has its benefits and drawbacks. Yes, the JSF and greivous are some of the best, but an A-Wing with a super RE job can take them...Leaph does it often enough.

You just contradicted your self. If they all have benefits and draw backs, then why would a JSF not need a super RE job also? My point is this: The A-Wing is supposed to be heavier, and it is also more advanced. The Jedi Star Fighter is supposed to be really tiny light and very manueverable. Not have high mass. It needs to have its mass reduced to less then the A-Wing and the A-Wing should have maby slightly more mass to further off set this.

But the A-Wing is a newer, more advanced, heavier Star Fighter. It is supposed to be heavier and it even has a good shield and a hyperdrive. The JSF is to small for the mass it has. I think it should get more manueverability, but its mass should come into alignment with the Movies andd Semi-canon.

It should not be almost as heavy as an X-Wing.

And a full broadside by a heavy X or a Tie Oppressor can kill quite a few small mass ships in one shot.

The X-Wing is supposed to be a Heavy Space Supperiority Fighter. Not a slow ship.

Only a few ties are more manueverable.

This is almost how it should be in game. I don't like the fact that a heavier fighter

(Heavy-X) is just as manueverable as a lighter one either. The normal X-Wing should have its mass increased by about 5k and have its YPR increases Slightly.

The Heavy-X-Wing should also have its mass decreased by about 20k.

It should not have more mass then most Y-Wings. And be just as manueverable as a dog fighting fighter.

Each ship is suited for different fly styles, which is nice. I don't want space combat turned into NASCAR.

I want it to be in tune with the movies.

And semi-canon Cross sections and Dictionaries.

With the exeption of a few quest bugs, I do not understand why people want to change the game. All of the factions are fairly balanced in ships and thier roles in combat. Why change that just to fit within your interpretation of a book. If we are going to change the ships we should also remove all of the jedi, and while we are at it, lets limit the ships that some races can fly (ie wookies can't fly JSFs). We should also limit the number fo combat professions on a server since in reality there is no way that 95% of the population would be combat trained even in the middle of a GCW. Maybe we should make players be farmers.

(yes I am being a jerk again and once again I am using satire to illustrate a point)

This is a game, it is not meant to mirror even a Star Wars reality. So to keep things from being too one sided some things have to changed.

Remember though, its not a "Heavy X-wing." Its an "Advanced" X-Wing. I don't see what it can step up from the original X-wing, as you state that the X-wing steps up on the Z-95.

As for your comments on the JSF, I agree. It should be smaller than the A-wing. Further, there is pretty much no drawback to flying one, or any situation in which you would rather not fly one. Its a nice ship, pretty, powerful, but not balanced.

I'm not sure about shieldless TIE Interceptors. Who on earth would want to fly those then ?

Right now, they lack mass, lack firepower, and now without shields - and the "useless-ness" of armour, they're going to be 2-hit kills.

The TIE Interceptor is the Imperial Version of the A Wing. Keep the A Wing faster and have better YPR, but definetely kick up the mass on the Interceptor, and add another Weapon slot if you need too.

As for the JSF/TIE and ARC/X-Wing, canon conflicts a bit with balance.

As we know, the JSF is the template on which the TIE was based on. We need to take into consideration, however that the JSF you are given is Vader's personal old ship. That would be one of the best JSFs ever created.

On the contrary, the Empire got Sienar to cut corners everywhere with the TIE to make it bearable to mass-produce. Cutting hyperdrives, shields, and what else.

I do like the idea of making all ships have a specific role - a lot of ships are made somewhat obsolete by others.

An X-Wing should have reasonable YPR, and good firepower.
Heavy X-Wing, mass is a bit too high.
ARC should just be a Heavy, Heavy X-Wing.

JTL CU Lol;

Then again, we don't want to worsen the situation.

Read what I said. I said Make NPCs interceptor shieldless.

Right now, they lack mass, lack firepower, and now without shields - and the "useless-ness" of armour, they're going to be 2-hit kills.

Player ones already are.

The TIE Interceptor is the Imperial Version of the A Wing. Keep the A Wing faster and have better YPR, but definetely kick up the mass on the Interceptor, and add another Weapon slot if you need too.

Actually the Tie Interceptor was made to counter advanced Alliance star fighters like the X-Wing.

As for the JSF/TIE and ARC/X-Wing, canon conflicts a bit with balance.

Nope. Not how I set it up.

As we know, the JSF is the template on which the TIE was based on. We need to take into consideration, however that the JSF you are given is Vader's personal old ship. That would be one of the best JSFs ever created.

Dousn't meen it is heavier then other ones.

The one he flew at the beggining of the movie was destroyed BTW.

On the contrary, the Empire got Sienar to cut corners everywhere with the TIE to make it bearable to mass-produce. Cutting hyperdrives, shields, and what else.

They are to small to have hyperdrives. There size was one of the "corners".

Jedi Star Fighters are even smaller.

I do like the idea of making all ships have a specific role - a lot of ships are made somewhat obsolete by others.

The Y-Wing is obsolete. The B-Wing is its replacement. The Z-95 is also obsolete.

An X-Wing should have reasonable YPR, and good firepower.
Heavy X-Wing, mass is a bit too high.
ARC should just be a Heavy, Heavy X-Wing.

Meh, thats almost what I said. Except the ARC seems about right.

JTL CU Lol;

Then again, we don't want to worsen the situation.

My suggestions would not.

Meh. You neglect that NPCs make up the mass majority of the population.

(yes I am being a jerk again and once again I am using satire to illustrate a point)

Your points are old and bad, trying to make them sound new and immpressive with big words and addmission of Jerkhood will not prevail. Making the ships that make the game what it is, based ON the ships they are supposed to be bassed on is a much better point.

Your methods of making the game better is not shared by the majority of players.

War between the factions is what the GCW is all about. Therefore, balance between then is the only valid point.

Pehaps if you had spent less time picking apart each sentence I wrote and serching the dictionary for impressive sounding words of your own, you would have realized that the last sentence was a summary and not a seperate argument.

The bottom line is that in order to make a game like this work, a lot of things must depart from reality (even if it is a made up reality) in order to facilitate balace, interesting gameplay, and in this case, continued interest.

However, this is all really a useless argument, as there is no way that SOE is going to commit the manhours to fixing something that isn't broken.

Valcyn. Also you are wrong anyway. For every one Person, there are many more NPCs. We are supposed to be the Elite.

And we are only a fraction of the true population on any server.

Yes, my points are old but they are no less valid.

Valid, yes. Good? Not at all. Our fighters should mimic the Star Wars fighters as closely as possible. The Devs tried this and only failed in the JSF and Bellbalub(spell?).

A few tweakes to the other fighters codes would easely make everything much better.

This is a game, it is not meant to mirror even a Star Wars reality.

Yes it is.

No, it is meant to simulate a Star Wars environment.

So you can just take away basic logic and facts and substitute them for silly contradictions that are easily fixable?

Silly silly argument indeed.

This is a Star Wars simulator. Having a JSF almost the Weight and capacity of an X-Wing is not simulating anything. It should be far more manueverable yet very light. Thats how it is supposed to be.

So to keep things from being too one sided some things have to changed.

And that is what im suggesting. Not your points are so inane you contradict your self.

Meh. My ideas balance the game well, and keep it in semi-alignment with the way they should be in Star Wars.

We are the elite in Star Wars Galaxies. So our fighters are customizable far beyond a stock fighter.

Thus our Ties have Hyperdrives andshields.

All the devs have to do is cut and modify a few numbers in the code. Simple as that.
