One thing I'm noticing which I'm hoping someone here can help me with. I've noticed this a few times now and it's bugging me. I need to run down a scenario a little.

Fight starts andmy target(NPC) and I are head to head, blasters... er blasting and I'm damaging hisshields pretty good. I should, I have better equipment. So we pass each other and obviously he's going to get behind me so I slow up a little and turn and I'm out turning him - he's in my sights, trying to turn, and I'm firing away. I'm hitting the other ship pretty good I think, I see the shots hitting his shields very often but the other ship's shields aren't going down at all. None of them. In fact, they're regenerating as if I'm not hitting him at all - but it LOOKS likeI am. Maybe 1 out of every 10 shots I see that hitregisters and his shield percentage decreases. The target straightens out and I get behind him - pour on the damage again and destroy the ship. This took about 15 minutes. The "problem" only seems to happen when turning.

This same thing has happened now about 6 or 7 times. Most of the opponents were Tier 1 Black Sun pirates. I'm in a Dunelizard with 2 level 2 weapons. Anyone experience this or know what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like lag. You are shooting where he was say half a second ago, but because it is your computer that draws the hit graphics, you will se the hits. The server just knows better and thus do not count the hits.
When he is flying strait and you are right behind him the angle to him is not changed by lag and thus you do not se it.

The engine does a very poor job of calculating aproach speeds and angles in head to heads.

It becomes most agrivated in these passes.

You just need to find the right spot.

Even with lv 10 blasters I can follow the reticle in a head-to-head and watch the shield impacts yet no damage will take. Over time you'll get it down, in head to heads I find the best spot to aim is around half way between the reticle and the actual target.

The shield impacts are a function of the client and server being out of sync .. one says "hit" and triggers shield impact graphic, and the other says "miss" and applies no damage.

You get used to it in time, just think of the reticle as a suggestion not a sure thing.

In fact the opposite also happens alot .. your shot will go wide and visually miss, no shield impact graphic, but damage will register.

It's just a function of latency and a poor physics engine.
