Thread: Destroying the Rebel Space Station (and/or the Star Destroyer) in Deep Space
What I am asking you fellow pilot aces is... Is this even possible? And if so, how was it done? You dont need to give a detailed account, but more info than the "my friend destroyed the SD over and over" line would be great.
If it isnt possible, why is there a bumper describing each factions capability to destroy these during the hyperspace load screen? Is this going to be a feature added soon? I wonder what the faction reward would be... Be nice to see a TurboLaser loot drop.. Be even nicer if I could use that TurboLaser on my VT :-). The possibilities SOE and LucasArts have to make space a great aspect of this game is incredible...
Thanks a bunch.

Right now the rebel station is bugged and cannot be destroyed. When the bug is fixed however the first thing you'll need is a fast engine and a good booster. Charge the base while targetting the shield, (remember to jink!)then once you get too close jam your boosters and escape, jinking while escaping as well. Once you are out of gun range, stunt and make another pass. If you work your angles right you'll be attacking the bridge and reactor on the same pass. I think the bases' armor was improved recently, so it may not be possible to do it in 5 passes anymore.
Really though, engine and boosters make all the difference in the world, you want to be able to approach fast and get away fast or you'll just get shot down on the escape.

Haven't tried the base yet, but since reaching Neutral Master Pilot, I went into DS the first time a couple days ago, and tried out attackingthe Star Destroyer. As far as THAT one goes, with a good ship and components (Fast engine, good guns + shield, etc.), and commands like Engine, Capacitor, Weapon Overloads, and Cap. to Shield Shunt, I found it was rather easy to take out solo from spawn to destruct, just time consiming a little. Just make "dive-in/out" runs at it's components, focusing on it's large number ofguns first. Best thing is to concentrate on one specific area at a time so you can open up clear(er) spots to approach with out taking fire, like right/left side axis, then front top, rear-left and rear-right zones (top and bottom), rearend by engines, and bridge area. Once a large number of them are gone, then you can start on the other components, like shields, engines, reactor and finaally the bridge to make it go Boom!
I took out 2, one after the other, first was 1/3 damaged and left bo someone else, the second was the fullrespawn after the first one went boom. Guns are not too bad, just don't get carried away trying to get too many iin one pass. Even one at a time (one gun per pass), sometimes 2 or more once the fire in a zone is decreased signifigantly is good enough to accomplish killing it off in the long run.
As a Reb Ace, the ISD is easy to kill. I use the JSF now, and kill the ISD in 5 mins no problems, it's a great source of FP 550 if overt per kill, plus you get around 19k creadits and 20k prestige for doing so. Seeing as all the Imps are hiding away from DS at the moment, and I had to drop colonel to go get my JSF, i'm using this as a way to regrind my FP. I can safely say, I kill the ISD over 10 times a night. You start by either taking the escort out, (which is actually the toughest part), then take Primary, Secondary shields, Engine, Reactor and then Bridge in that order. With the JSF it is perfectly possible to circle in front of the bridge strafing on each pass. I like following the super structure on my retreat away from the bridge, it gives a good Star Wars feel as you watch the hull fly past and shows how much Yaw the JSF actually has. You slide past the hull as you pull round for your next pass, and it feels cool. After 5 or 6 passes, the bridge goes boom, and bingo, you pull out to watch the pretty light show. In my oppinion, the Master Corvette is harder than the ISD. Even with 99, yes 99 turbo lasers, the ISD cant get a decent shot onto you most of the time. The Corvette is a lot more accurate and therefore tougher to take solo.
Hope this explains how it's done.
you can't target a thingt on the ship atall. even after takeing out the shields you still need missiles to take out the reactor and bridge. YAWN yet another space bug that needs squishing.
