Thread: POB SHIPS A SIMPLE FIX AND SUGGESTIONS, ALSO SOMETHING ABOUT THE JUKEBOX

POB ships are under powered in PVE and PVP, it is a fact.

This is mainly due to only having 2 weapon slots and the difficulty in coordinating with a crew. I believe a simple fix to the problem would be to increase the weapons slots from 2 to 4. I am not suggesting adding additional turrets, just that we are able to plug in 2 weapons into a single turret. Freelance pilot ships have 3 weapons slots, why would a ship with 5 million mass that has difficulty maneuvering and targeting only be allowed 2. Also allowing for 2 weapon slots in a turret would allow for a mining laser and tractor beam in a single turret, which is highly desirable. Sounds simple doesn’t it?

I don’t understand the thinking behind elite POB components. It shows that the Devs see a need to add to POB ships, but fail to grasp the idea of flexibility. Why would I want to add a single POB weapon to my ship which has high mass and less than ideal stats. Instead why not allow me to come up with hundred of combinations for my turret, using great blasters with different visuals and effects that are already in game.

Other suggestions:

I love my YT-1300 but wish that I was able to customize it in a way that made itdifferent from other players POB’s.

For example:

Component upgrade allows wound healing at a slow rate like camps.

Component upgrade that allows extra cargo space.

Component upgrade that increases shield stats.

Component upgrade that increase maneuverability

Component upgrade that increases ore recovery.

Component upgrade that discourages pirate attacks.

Each POB ship would only have one slot for a component upgrade, so each players POB ship would feel different.

One last suggestion regarding the jukebox. I love sitting around crafting in my YT-1300 and looking out the window while listening to the great Star wars tunes this thing puts out, but hate that it disappears after 8 hours. Why not make such a great device a permanent fixture?

Very interesting ideas for enhancing the POBs, the flexible component slot definately deserves investigating. It should be noted, that POB are actually very effective in PvE, PvP is where they are lacking.

As for the above quote, the reason why they are not permanent is very strong: Entertainers. Jukeboxes already have a wider selection and (in some opinions) cooler music then Musicians. Making them permanent would be considered a HUGE nerf to that community.

One question, I've never dropped a jukebox in a ship, is it just that one room like houses, or the whole ship that gets the tunes?

the one thing that i think needs to be changed in order for POB ships and Ships with turrents to preform better is free moving turrents... meaning that the turrent stays where it was last targeting... it is really hard to hit anything in the turrents if the ship you are in keeps moving... This is also why the ARC is not a good ship. It was built to manuver But if you are manuvering there is no way your people that are in the turrents can hit anything.

I personally dont' see how this would hurt entertainers at all. Most folks only listen to them for buffs anyways (the bulk of the time). In addition, entertainers can create fully customizable music, whereas the jukebox can only put out pre-scripted music. They both fill different niches, so I don't see the issue. Furthermore, if jukeboxes became permanent features, that opens the door foor being able to 'record' entertainer songs to discs and being able to sell them for players to play (or for dancers maybe recording holo's of the dance).

The jukebox only projects in one part of the ship. I don't know about other players, but I really only listen to entertainers for the buffs and BF healing. Since the jukebox doesn't do these things how does that translate to nerf. Actually it would be really cool if entertainers could make the Jukebox's and depending on their skill level load it with songs. I would gladly pay a million for one of these without regret.

POB's arevery effective at PVE? Hmmm... YT-1300 against group of tier 5's, try it. It doesn't go well. I guess it would depend on your crew though and how they are with targeting, but you have to admit 2 weapons slots for a 5 million mass ship that moves like a brick is weak.

Yeah flexible componet slots add alot of viability as far as customizing what you use your ship for, which differs from person.

Agree, manuvering and expecting your gunners to take care of the 3 tier 5's on tail is brutal. It is very hard for a gunner to anticipate when you are going to bank, roll, and turn and adjust quickily enogh to score a hit.

LOL yeah I tried the ARC too, in Kessel...that was a mistake.
