First off I know this has been asked before but for some reason, possibly the high level of sleep deprivation i've been getting from grinding, the answer is still unclear in those threads i run across. I am an Imp Smuggler on the ground and I want to go SA for obvious reasons. Can I goto DS turn on overt and get Imp faction?Does any Neutral pilot get faction points from anything(including NPC's)? If so could someone tell me how to do this for when i get to that point later. Thanks alot in advance.

Thanks for the quick answer smolderingchaos. I guess my next question is what would be the point in going Neutral(in space) and wanting to PvP? Is there any benefits/payoffs? Havent gotten there yet so don't understand the system. Just don't want to grind all the way there then find out it was for nothing.

You can still PvP all you want, and if you're an Imp on the ground when you enter DS you'll be an Imperial there. You just can't declare and earn faction.

no fp in ds for neutral pilots
going overt at an imperial station will get you fp everywhere else.

Thanks for the reply Attacca but i shoulda clarified a bit better. Is there any benefits to being in the Neutral faction and going into DS, or for that matter anything else, as opposed to being Imp/Reb? Seems like the payoff for going one of those two are that you get faction points later on for PvP, just wandering if there was anything special for SA.

Umm, with the exception of DS you can shoot either Imperials or rebel scum, and both will appear as yellow to you. Moderately useful. Deep Space you will be coded Imperial but unable to earn faction.
That, and I think Freelance ships are really cool. But I dropped Freelance for Imperial, I missed my Decimator and missed my faction.
