Seriously, as long as we stay in the same faction, we should not have to drop our hard earned Master title, just to get another badge within the same faction. Ture, we would be able to solo most of the missions with this, but heck, were master pilots just serving our faction. Now if we want to switch factions, then knock us down to space wimps, but only then does this make sense to me.
Now Im just as work venting here, but this is the only reason I have not tried for the other two pilot badges.

Why have 3 badges if you can get 2 for free? They DO give you an exp bonus to shorten the grind on multimaster. I actually am kind of enjoying getting the piddly ships back out for a spin.

if you dont do the mission at the level they are designed your really not earning the badge.

I might agree with that ONLY if they make all the ships you fight tier 5, and increase the number of A-wings/Agressors/Gunboats you have to fight. Leaving the missions as they are, like you suggest, would like be a Jedi master wacking durni. I don't see much fun in that.
Besides, the second grind is way easier with the master pilot bonus, so it goes twice as fast. Prestige points mean squat, so it's not like you're going to miss them.

You're confusing the abilities of pilot with innate skills and abilities. Most of Piloting for an organization is about Certification, earning the trust of the organization and being granted things in recognition of your standing within the organization. Since each group follows a bottom up power structure, you gotta start over and claw your way through each time you want to change allegiance.

Well I have to say it's 75% equipment and 25% skill for the most part anyway, once you've been through Ace once you have a bunch of toys to outfit your next ships with and an additional 1x bonus xp. I consider myself an average pilot, but with good equipment you can get through almost anything. I think being knocked down to nothing certificate wise when switching squadrons in the same faction does seem a bit pointless, but it's almost too easy to complete the missions as it is (unless you'redoing the 3 Imp squadrons, they weremore challenging). Just my 2 cents...

I was referring to the ingame justification for dropping, when I used those terms

Personally.. I don't see the big deal. My first Ace (Black Epsilon) took awhile (learning to play JTL, no resources yet... etc..)
Ace #2 took me approximately 18 hours of gameplay. No problems there had it in about 3 days. Solo'ed the whole thing except the vette, even then it was just me and one buddy.
Ace #3 took about the same amount of gametime. Smugglers Alliance. Solo'ed up till the vette again. Unintentionally ended up with a group of 15 taking that sucker out! LMAO!Had to start by getting all new ships but of course I had all the components I could need already re'ed.
So, I understand if you're a casual player with not much time to get online this process can be annoying. Personally, I'm either grinding through 2 more Nuetrals and then the last Imperial, or just gonna bite the bullet and call it done with Storm Squadron.

I'm starting my 4th squadron...it gets TONS easier after mastering 1. You have these bonuses
lots of components that you have RE'd and made good
you have beat the JTL learning curve.
you get a multiplier on your exp.
the 2nd mastery goes quick..the third quicker still...I had to group for all the tier 4 missions and the 30 Kessel kills and the vette with my first mastery, Havoc Squad
Then I soloed Smuggler's Alliance all the way, except the vette (I and a couple others helped a guildie get his master, no one even knew I had the mission too)
Then I completely soloed RSF
now I temporarily switched factions to do Imperial Inquisition, Storm Squadron and Black Epsilon
then back to rebel for Chrimson Phoenix, then Corsec, then finish back at rebel with Vortex
I love my X, A, and B wings

hell
I had to buy my way out of -5000 imperial faction to do it to....625k credits..gone, but now I am 1211 Imperial Inquisition and even the low tier TIE fighters are outta control...I dont see why people complain so much about thier restricted mass. They handle way better than any ship I have flown for the rebels or Freelance, with the exception of the Awing....and of course I haven't gotten to my Interceptor yet

I guess my biggest problem with it, is that fact that I would have to redead and grab ALL my stuff off my Deciamtor. That is something I will not do. I can see missions requiring certian ships, like a pre-req for any profession, but again, dont force us to drop Master Pilot. I just would like to do the content of the game and wouldnt mind using a lower level of ship if thats what it took.

That is the sacrifice you must make. Just like the ground game. if you want the badges, you got to give up something for them. No free rides or it would not be much of a game then.

You don't have to redeed it. You'll just have one less slot and a ship you can't use until you're certed again.
