I am on the 3 part Freelance mission that ends with me and some allie npcs against 4 or 5 fighters and two gunboats.

Taking out the fighters is not a problem and I could even take out one of the gunships, I think, but when I go to take out one they both fire at me. I am not fast enough to hit and run. My allies are worthless as they do last a few minutes, but do very little damage.

Go in at full speed, firing as you go, aiming for weapon systems, hit your boosters as you come even with them andrun past, use capacitor to shield shunt as neccisary, get out of gun range, wait for shields to recharge, then rinse, and repeat.

most of the underside of these gunships are vulnerable due to thier turret blind spots. I aim for the engines first..try a spacebomb here, then hit the other GB from below engines first. When they are both unable to move, they are much easier to destroy. You will still need to do strafing runs with the engines targetted. The GB's will try to follow you, so it will be hard to stay in thier blind spot for long

The problem is they are chasing the npc ships, so are moving a twisting all the time.

Also they stay close together like glue. Its like attacking one big ship.

Third there is a time limit because once the npc ships on my shide are gone the mission is over.

By the time I take out the 4 or 6 fighters, the ships are almost finished.

its a hard mission man, I know, I did it solo, but only by the skin of me teeth..the last NPC ship I was with was at 2% shields, 10%armor and 60% systems...get buddy to help man, seriously, or else be prepared to try it a couple times. I did it on my second try

This was the only Freelance mission I could not solo. I even did the Vette solo. I ran into the same problem you did with the NPC "help." I just could not keep them alive long enough to finish the mission. Nothing more frustrating that having both GB's with engines disabled and the idiot "help" getting blown away because they will not manuever out of the way of the remaining weapons. I brought a group of friends with MP ships, Bomber Strike, and spacebombs and we still only had 2 "help" alive when we finished it.
