I recently resubscribed to Galaxies and picked up JTL. Needless to say, I love it. I'm all for the space combat system. So much, in fact, that I rushed out and bought myself a joystick. I've made my way through the first tier missions, and am doing duty missions right now. Now for the question: are there any tier 1 duty missions that would let me blow up some rebs? I want to work on my imp faction, and my non-space combat skills are less than impressive. I know you get faction for taking out rebel ships, but I haven't been able to find any so far. So, if anybody could give me a heads up on where I might be able to get anti-reb missions, I'd be most appreciative.

You only get FPs if you're overt.
And if you're overt then other players can kill you.
And since you're Tier 1, they don't even have to try alot. Besides you don't get alot of FPs for Tier 1 targets

I would not try to farm FPs in space till 3322 at least, better 3323 (which gives you TIE Intercepter, Level 7 equipment, and Overload 3 programs and a FC with enough capacity to use them). With Reactor, Capacitor, (both from Privateers) Engine and Weapon Overload 3 (Empire) and using Capacitor to Shield Shunt 4 (from Priv again - and yes, you can use droid programs level 4 even if you're Tier 3 only) its not too hard then to kill Tier 5 Rebels in Kessel, they give around 50 FPs per kill, you'll gain FPs there pretty quick.
But again, you can be killed overt, but with that ship you stand a chance to kill them

Thanks for all the info, looks like I've got quite a road ahead of me. It also sounds like I have quite a bit of research to do. I'm currently Imperial 1/1/1/0. Should I pick up privateer also?

I realize now that I can't pick up privateer without resigning from imperial. My bad. Back to the FAQ/Guide thread for me!

Depends on how active JTL is on your server, I could fly around all day on Kettemoor and not see another pilot. So, it really wouldn't matter if you were overt or not. You do gain faction from doing the quest. Although, its not alot, its still nice. Oh, and JTL is kind of boring until you get to tier 2, thats when the fun begins

Silly me, forgot to put my name in message

Kirsha - Kettemoor

Rennie - Corbantis

yeah man, read the FAQ and also read all the stickied threads there by 1st_Viduus, "Learning to Fly" "KISS" " Know your Ship" etc.

He is a mastermind of saying what we all find to be intuitive flying techniques and also in the FAQ you will find a lot of faction specific info

In case you do not know, you can use computer chips from any faction. All you need is to have an ace program the blank chips for you.
