Thread: Operations chair/co pilot chair

I think the operations chair needs some sort of interface. Sorta like the status window(v) for pilots.

A monitor that shows which droid commands are usable and being used. Usually operations guy is not the owner of the ship so he doesn't know what droid commands are loaded.

A counter maybe for Droid status, to show how much time is remaining before a new command can be used.

Maybe a counter for System Status, to show how much time is remaining before a new command can be used.

Something that allows them to examine part status and ship lay out that show where damaged systems and conduits are to save time running around willie nilly on the ship trying to find the damaged unit.

This stuff is passive so it won't affect the game mechanics.

The following is active so it will affect the game mechanics.
A monitor to show enegry per shot drain rates and refire for weapons. The operations guy can slow down the refire of a gun to reduce drain on the capacitor.
The ability to pass on/assign targets to the gunners.
The ability to deploy landing gear(if they ever implemented atmopheric flight or docking in large ships).

Just a few random thoughts.

well, if the co-pilot brings up the droid commands menu (not sure what it's called, but it's with the socials, macros and all that) they will get a list of droid programs

A timer on the DI would be a nice feature, lets the co-pilot know how much time they have to get up a and do a fix before the next shield shunt

I'm very touchy when it comes to my ship, maybe just the roleplayer in me, but I always do the "pre-flight check" as I've come to call the time it takes to activate the droid commands myself. I rarely fly with a co-pilot (Nobody I know likes sitting in that chair, and I haven't really seen any reason to try to talk anyone into sitting there anyway), instead my gunners have Shield Shunt 4 and use it when needed.

That said, it's pretty annoying to sit there waiting for the Droid Commands to finish activating, but then wonder if I missed one... I'd love to see an interface that shows currently activated droid commands and a timer until another one can be used, simply for convienence. I find it odd that the Pilot gets the Droid Command messages and the Co-Pilot that's actually doing the commands doesn't.

Hence the need for an interface for the co pilot.
It'll actually make someone want to sit in the chair.
And give some functionality to it.

Maybe throw in an enhanced radar for the copilot to play with.
Click on a radar blip and that pulls up general stats on blip.
Then the co pilot can pass on the blip to gunnery targets.
Or even to do a detailed scan of the blip to get a more detailed profile...ie components stats.

Yeah I think the co-pilot should have a role of "painting" targets for gunners. It would give them something to do.
