Been trying to enhance my mining speed and was wondering if this made any sense. I'm a freelance pilot so I was thinking of outfitting a Kimo with 2 tractor beams and a class 3 mining laser. The thought is that if you have the tractor beams on the wing tips and on the center then the ship would have a much wider area of effect to pull in asteroid chunks.

Anyone ever try this? Does it make any difference and or sense? Any thoughts are welcome.

I tried it and it was no faster than one mining laser and one tractor beam.

Ja..dual tractors don't add to extraction rate so only one tractor beam is good.
Using double Mining lasers and a tractor beam might work(ie less time for one to break off/break up a medium chunk). Scoop up the small bits with tractor(before they disperse).

Temper temper...or you might end up looking like a badly perserved prune that shoots lightning out of his hands...

On my Krayt I use two Mk3 Mining Lasers w/quickshot upgrades and a tractor beam. With WO3 I very often break off a medium chunk in one shot. I haven't tried it with just one laser to see if it makes a difference... if it's no slower, I'd obviously stick a "real" weapon on there for the bandits.

I mine in a Kimo and I went from (1 tractor/1 Mk3 laser/1 blaster) to (1 tractor/2 Mk3 laser w/ quickshot) and I really really like the new setup. Having the two mining lasers makes a big difference because you can break rocks in one shot, that helps a lot if you're doing the tractorbeam scoop method. Adding the quickshot to your mining lasers means you can use them to take down even tier 4 pirates with ease. I thought I would be dogmeat without a blaster but killing guys with mining lasers is actually pretty funny.
