I'm a beginning pilot, as in day two ofplaying the game for the first time.I have just completed my first four basic skills in flying. I have a whole bunch of components to upgrade my ship with, but I have no idea what the specs mean. For instance, for shields, do I want a higher number for recharge rate, or a lower one? I have these questions for every part of the ship, so I was wondering if there was a faq or guide, that listed the specs and told you want the number means. I just need to know if it is a number rate recharge or a rate per second for components.
Any help is appreciated!

Ship Chassis:
Hit Points - High
Mass - High
In general....
Mass, Energy Maitiance - Low
Armor, Hitpoints - High
Engines:
Speed, Pitch, Yawn, Roll - High
Reactor:
Energy Generation - High
Shields:
Hitpoints (front and Rear), Recharge Rate - High
Weapons:
Armor & Shield Effectiveness, Minimum & Maximum Damage - High
Refire Rate - Low (Within reason. If it's too low, you'll drain your weapon cap too fast)
Energy Per Shot - Low
Weapons Capacitor:
Max Energy, Recharge Rate - High
Booster:
Acceleration, Booster Energy, Recharge Rate, Speed - High
Energy Consumption - Low
Droid Interface:
Droid Command Speed - Low
Hit Points - High
Mass - High

Read the stickies and Faq in the Shipwright forum. You will find all you need to understand ships, components, and RE. There is a buying guide that explains what you need.
