How many of you pilots use missles when you PVP? I just started my JTL experience and I was wanting to know for a tournament I'm signed up in, if its useful with mass and what not. I'll be flying a starter Imp ship so mass is a big issue but if missles can bring the damage, or if I should expect otheres to be toting around warheads during this tournament. Oh and any advice on what I should get setup for my ship for the tourney would be nice as well

I keep MK II Image-rec missles loaded on any ship i go overt with. (T/I and T/O)
I may not always use them, but it makes me feel better about A wings, especially in my oppresor. Tis a comfort item
I'd like to see an A wing shake lose 3 IR missles at once

But in the starter ship is it worth giving up the mass for them, or should I focus on something else?

In my eagerness to try out my never-fired MkII Image-Rec launcher, I launched one missile at a player last night. Because of my mistake of pointing myself straight at him for so long, he blew me to smithereens. Seconds later, my missile paid him back. We had a good laugh about that in tells afterwards...
If I had been trying to lock on with any other missile, I would not have had a chance to launch it.

I never used them in PvE.
Missiles and Counter-Measures are PvP items. Missiles from NPCs can easily be handled with Cap to Shield Shunt.

IR missles lock on quick. about 1.. to 1.5 seconds i think. They beauty of it is you dont have to be exact with your aiming while trying to aquire a lock.. just keep your targeted painted with your HUD - which is a fairly large cone of fire.

I use Mk II Image-Recs in my Interceptor, saving them for rough battles with A-Wings. I'd think seriously about fitting your starter with a Mk I proton launcher or whatever. What're the chances your opponents will be spending 1/12 their mass on a chaff launcher?

Oh somehow missed the fact that you're using the starter ship in PvP.
Hm... Not sure if Protons are fast enough for PvP, but then a Starter ship is damn slow too but you could as well try to hit it with blasters, just avoid head-ons.
