My point is the game is already hevily balanced and favored to Combat as it is, no need to further that. There are numerous paths and choices for the combatant who seeks FS, and adding one more accomplishes nothing. I don't "hate" anyone, I just think jedi don't belong in this game, and catering to people's desire for them in every circumstance is a waste. Becoming Jedi is easy enough, adding prestige or space combat conversion isn't additive to the process, it's diluting and watering down the process even more.

All i am saying is why cant i enjoy my grind in space doing something i think is fun? It affects no one else, and over all would make the game more enjoyable for me. I will make jedi one way or the other, but i would sure like to have fun getting there instead of hating every second of it.

FS conversion? Yes onthree conditions. 1. the conversion rate should be reasonable compared to how easy it is to get Pilot Prestige. 2. That it is in fact based on pilot prestige and not on pilot experience. 3. That there is more than enough OTHER things to spend Pilot Prestige points on that it would truly HURT even a Force Sensitive to burn it off on nothing more than some FS experience.

So regarding point 3... please please make it possible to buy certifications... or more to the point RE-certifications for ships. So that a former Imp Ace could retire, join up with the RSF regain ace and once they scrounged enough PP together could repurchase their Tie Advanced certification. This alone could keep many Master Pilots up in the skys where they belong.

Again though this should also be accompanied by plenty of other perks that would be equally attractive. Special furniture schematics especially for MP ships or furniture pieces for ground houses with very piloty themes. Pilot specific clothing schematics with plenty of variation (and taking into account the more interestly shaped races). A special 'Shifty looking Pilot' award for those of us who hope to master each of the pilot professions (Maybe even a BH mission or two against us for switching sides so often ).

As for some of the slightly off topic stuff mentioned (various places to dock and such like pilot cantinas)... Even though it isn't canon per se within the movies... maybe it would be possible to move part of what is currently in the starports (Some of the ship terminals and such) up into a new area that would actually BE the Space Stations. One of the things you could do in the station that you couldn't do on ground would be to go to a terminal and get invited onto a MP ship by the ship's pilot. Its frustrating (and more than a little silly)to have to land, dumping everyone in the middle of the starport just to pick up another person.

And while I'm rambling about it... why the heck do we 'land' in the middle of the starport rather than wherever the ship access points are? If an equipment juggle bonked out my droid and I have to come back down... it feels odd and a little irritating to have to run around back to the terminals. So if I'm appearing there because I've arrived by shuttle, then definitely create an area in the space station (That would be like the MP ships in that you could look out the windows) where I'm shuttling to and from. And if thats just where you appear by all means make it so pilots appear in the lounge rather than the middle of the port. Cept I'm sure that would take at least some coding and I'd rather get other content so (although new transport points seem to have been created for Jabba's and the Emperor's retreat so either they were always there or its not that hideous a job)... /rantoff.

Mostly... please allow master pilots to repurchase certifications with significant chunks of Prestige Points.

Why cant we use the system that Neocron used for apartments. When you select the starship terminal and want to go to a ship, it creates an instanced Hanger where your ship is landed, and you can repair, modify etc and then launch if you wish.

I also agree that Pilot XP and prestige should be convertable to force sensitive xp if they wish it. I'm not saying to jedi deserve skills in space but this would be an immediate fix to no post master content. The conversion ratio could be something really high like 100 to 1 and iit would still be balanced along with the rest of the conversion ratios. I do agree that this would be the first step toward the content we really want. I was the one of the first 3 master pilots on my server and since master the only thing that that i have had to look forward too is flying in my multiplayer ship with friends, spend hours looking for PvP, or killing npcs in deep space for loot to RE.

I love the space expansion but there is really nothing more for me to do out there, but a space conversion to FS xp would be a hell of a lot more fun than throwing grenades at lairs

EDIT:

5) Player-placable landing pads. Crafted by Archetects, placable only by masters in a Metropolis, costs enourmous amounts of prestige to activate deed, and perhaps even costing both credits and prestige points to maintain. These would be factionally alligned, and would limit access to only members of the profession matching that of the master who places them, with the likely exception of Neutral. Limiting their placement to highest-level cities only, and possibly capping a planet's total allowable number of player landing pads would cut down on swamping each world with them. I would also add that they should only allow for landing and takeoff, no component management, as they might otherwise be seen as overkill. Lastly, unlike cantinas, these should not persist after the city drops below the size needed to maintain one. There is no need for an international airport in a deserted city.

Must say that has to be one of the most well thought out and balanced ideas of how to get player controlled landing rights I'd seen or heard! I second this great idea in the name of a better over-all game!

Oh yeah, and no FS trade in. No way! We need PvP in space and newbies need XP grind spots. What we don't need are idiots who don't have any interest in the space game and are going to ruin it for everyone else!

Okay. To the FS conversion naysayers in particular now... the implication seems to be that the instant a FS conversion goes live for Pilot Prestige every wannajedi in the galaxy will fill up space camping all the 'good' spawns.

Well the 'problem' wannajedi's are the ones who will follow the path of LEAST resistance to get to Jedi. The 'naders/politicians or whatever you think that is. Space is not the path of least resistance even with an extremely good conversion rate (Good being around 80-1) since even if worst case scenario the conversion was allowed for Pilot XP rather than Pilot Prestige (Something I'd be strongly against personally), it at least takes a tiny shred of skill, real skill not 'skillz', to rack up huge chunks of pilot XP and the lower down the pilot branches you are the longer it would take.

One of the things I really like about space is there really aren't THAT many shortcuts. And if you take all the shortcuts you possibly can, like say having an Ace do every single one of your missions and take you up in their 1+Multi for XP grinding... at the end of it you'd be fairly hard pressed to make additional XP. I don't know that there would be lots of pilots out there willing to continue to help a completely green pilot grind FS away day in and out.

So which wannajedi's would be coming up to space? The ones who frickin' liked space in the first place. The ones who might have given up space cause they feel that time spent in space is time NOT spent working on the grind. (I'm actually coming from the other side of things. I've stopped the FS grind (I don't grind much actually so I'm figuring it would be about four years before I'd make Paddy so I freely admit that I'm not that concerned about it) because space is so much a better game. I wouldn't mind seeing more pilots kicking about though, and I'm on Starsider mostly which is a VERY pilot friendly server (Both in the sense that there are a lot of them per capita and in the sense that ALMOST every pilot I've met has been wickedly friendly. Like 'Hey there, what is it that I can do for you today' friendly.). So I don't give a ranc's tail what these folks are doing on the ground, if they liked space in the first place by all means send them up here. They might get like me and almost forget that silly planet surface area.

Would that mean that you would get one or two j3d1 hard grinders? Yes, you probably would. More if you count the folks who'd come up just to see how the conversion stacks up against 'nades or whatever the transfer of the week is. But piloting isn't much of a 'grind' really (cept maybe tier four... blegh).

Would that mean that there would be people who would become Jedi who might not have otherwise? Yes, it probably would. Do you seriously think the percentage increase would even be noticeable though? I doubt a conversion would even help me as I still have an unlock or two... but I can't seem to get out of the cockpit long enough to do the quests (Love me some space).

I'm almost to the point now where the more folks are freaking out about it, the more I'd just as soon they instigate a conversion rate. See what the true worst case scenario is like. Do a trial run for a month and make sure everyone knows that at the end of the month that conversion rate will go away. That would get every single wannajedi who would every possibly try to exploit the conversion to at least give it a try (Nothing like a limited edition to get folks all excited). Then take it away at the end of the month. Its not like the complainer types on each side of the issue would complain MORE.

That said...

Here's a combo idea that I truly don't know if it would work at all, but it would be very cool.

Have a new type of house craftable by architects called a 'Hanger', or somesuch. This should be about equivalent to a Guild Hall now, although really it should have a planet specific look... but whatever.

The inside should be relatively dull. Just one big open area. Inside the big open area would be space for say either one multi, or two fighters (one bomber style and one super small one). You get your ship to appear there by setting it on the structure term. Ships would be invisible to non JTLers I suppose... if those models can even be cross referenced from space to ground... I was just assuming they could because of the images in the ship futzing with screen and datapad.

No, it wouldn't look quite right when blown up to appropriate size most likely.

To compensate for the likely increase in server strain... perhaps Hangers would only have 2 or 300 inventory spots (or whatever these are called).

I'm not saying you'd have to be able to have ship terminal access or anything (although that would of course be wonderful) just the appearance of your ships in a hanger would be good. Especially if it would check to see if you're using a specific ship or not when someone entered your hanger and would remove that ships display till you landed... bur thats probably pushing things more than I already am.

Ah well, a pilot can dream can't she?

Pilot skills require no skill points and JtL is completely separate from the ground game. Plus, I rather enjoy having an area of SWG where Jedi don't matter at all. Allowing FS conversion for XP will only open the door to demands for such things as Jedi Starfighters and Jedi Space Skills.

LOL. Looks like it's too late for that now doesn't it?

There absolutely needs to be a FS conversion ratio for PRESTIGE ONLY. Here's why:

1.) This is STAR WARS: Blasting crap in space has just a tad bit more to do with Star Wars than punching rats in the middle of nowhere.

2.) No Macro-ing: People can get FS by actually playing the game instead of setting up a macro to kill their alt 56,000 times!

3.) Time Sink: Adjust the ratio to come out to the same as one hour of play on the ground.

4.) Prestige: This is a perfect use for prestige points. Right now most people basically quit playing JTL after master...

5.) Money Money Money: There are lots of people out there grinding FS. Do they all have JTL?????
