Hi,

I got a question about how the game sees the hitbox of a ship.

As an example, I'll use the B-wing. If you face a B-wing (so the B-wing is just hanging infront of you),

where can you shoot to inflict damage to the B-wing ?

picture 1 or picture 2 ?

thx

imagine picture 1, but instead of having a square covering the whole thing, it's a diamondwho's point ends halfway through the bottom of the "t".

kinda rediculous isn't it?

i assumed that maybe the game used boxes for everything, it's certainly the case for the IGI, JSF, B22, Xwing, and Bwing (i haven't tested other ships). but what about merc cap ships? or gunboats? i can hit the tip of a gunboats wing, but shoot over or under it. i can shoot the top section of a merc cap ship, right under it, or the middle beam. that's obviously not 1 single box.

imo if we got down to it and posted a graphic with all JTL ships and their respective hitboxes, we'd end up with 1000 more questions than we had when we originally started.

sometimes i think hitbox size/design was a complete afterthought by someone who did not have the slightest clue as to how it would play out in practice. other times it seems like it's a grand design that i'm too stupid to understand. wouldn't it be great if a dev could come and elaborate on some of the connundrums? heh. that'd be great. maybe someday when someone actually posts a nice graphic with every ship at 150m with it's hitbox clearly outlined in red and a 1000 page discussion follows, we'll get a red name to pop in and confuse us even more.
