Thread: Strange invulnarablitiy effect on enemy ships
It's hard to say what this is. If your ship occasionally stops dead in space during these 'invulnerability' periods, then the problem is lag.
Well, actually, it's likely the problem is lag anyway. You generally have to aim well ahead of where the enemy ship appears to be in order to do actual damage. If all you're getting is the 'shields hit' graphics, the client is acknowledging the hit, but the server is saying 'nope, that's not where your enemy actually is.'
Hitting the same ship repeatedly with twin 3000 guns with WO3 and not even scratching them.
Anyone know the cause of this? Its super annoying as it can take an age to down a ship sometimes. It happens about 50% of the time at least. I do seem to have noticed that if i fire single shots they always seem to affect shileds/armour but not if i rapid fire for some reason.
Is it lag doing this?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

The only times I can't land a hit are due to no data passing between the client and server. When I lose connection completely, I can fly around for 5 minutes shooting at ships and doing nothing(they'll still be flying around, btw, but I don't think they respond to the attacks).

You may also be affected by a strange glitch that plagued me for months. It has also affected other people I know, so here's what I've discovered.
The day after the CU struck, my guns stopped working. Oh, they fired, but they would never do anything more than a glancing hit, the type that activates the shield-graphic but does no damage. At first I would hit about half of the shots that should have been penetrating shots, then 1/3rd, then 1/5, then they finally just stopped damaging anything altogether.Initially I just chalked it up to bad luck/lag, but after running a mission with a friend and not getting a single point of XP, I began to wonder. Finally, frustrated I asked to /duel my friend and for him to stop completely. I strafed his ship over and over, attacking from every angle, every distance, every speed, everyeverything! I emptied my capacitors into him, he had not a scratch to show for it. This completely demolished any ability I had to gain XP and advance in the pilot profession. I filed numerous tickets, got one response other than "Sorry, you're screwed. Nothing we can do." That response suggested I try redeeding my ship or replacing the guns. I did both. No good. This hampered my pilot training from the CU to a few weeks ago when I was finally able to get ace.
Anyways, I'll tell you what I know. This bug seems to only affect Imperial pilots, as everyone I've talked to who has the bug is Imperial. I have not heard of it happening on an Eta, Bell or other multi-prof cert ship. I have seen it work on the front guns (though strangely not the turret) of a TIE Aggressor, so it can affect Multiplayer ships. Unknown if it ever happens to POB ships. Yes, the problem is not with the guns or the pilot. As I said, replacing the guns did nothing and I could still deal damage in other people's turrets. The problem is with the ship itself. Sell your old ship, get a new chassis. I had to do it twice (which is why it took me months to get it resolved. I did it the first time, which fixed it for about 30 minutes then thought that that wasn't the problem when they broke again), but it eventually worked. So, if all of the above fail, get a new ship.
