Hello to all fellow pilots,

i've a problem with my shields ...

description:

Some time ago i bought crafted cert.7 shield with different hp stats on front/back - eg. something like 2150/1870 and after i installed this shield into my

JSF the fron/back hp just automatically equalled on arround 1945/1945 - i tried to buy other shield from another shipwright, but same thing happend.

Well i didn't pay it too much attention and used them. But since i started pvping on deep space and taking there most hits in front i started to collect

parts for cert 7 shield (ProtectoNet shield) from Nym's quest.

Well, post RE i got to 14k mass and 2200/1850 hp with good energy drain and recharge. I hurried to starport and installed this shield to my

tie heavy version ... and *burst in tears* the shield hp equalled again on some 1995/1995 front/back.

And in this condition it stays even if i remove it from chassi to my inventory - it simply is changed now.

I asked already 2 shipwrights and some pilots in game, but no one know.

Is this a BUG or FEATURE

This happens to prevent an old exploit that allowed massive front/back values. Any unbalanced shield, once equipped on a snubfighter, will automatically level out its values.

the bad new is that it is intentional... when you launch your shield will equal out. The good news is that rebel pilots get droid programs to adjust shields. ie. Sheild adjust front extreme (which is what I use for dueling... it leaves my 1300 f/b shield at 2500f and 135b or something like that) its great for 1 v 1 pvp but sucks if there are any npcs around. but they also have normalization which will equal them back out. If you have a good DI you can shift them around pretty quick.

So if you say, i have a shield with 2000 / 1200 or so and use it, it will afterwards be a 1600/1600 shield?

This means, if you find any shield you want to use for RE'ing, you should not ever install it into a ship before?

And additionally the question with the shield balancing, if i have a 1600/1600 shield and use shield balance to all forward, i then in effect have 3200/0 in space, if i then land put in another shield to put it to 0/3200 and use these shields for RE'ing, am i then able to create a 3200/3200 shield that way?

Would sound like a massive exploit to me, please tell me that it doesn't work...

Yes

Correct

Used to. That's why the shields balance out when you launch/land to prevent shields like that from being create anymore. Shortly after launch, people did that with pairs of level 8 reward shields to create some incredibly strong shields.

It was, which is why things work the way they do now.

Rebel droid programs will allow you to shift power from the rear shield to the front. Droid programs are freely tradeble amongst factions.

...not only are they freely tradable, they appear on finer merchants in a galaxy near you!
