Primarily I use it for PvE. 119.2 speed, 68 PRY. Now I have been toying with this ship in PvP, will load a full spec loadout, finally finished my RE on it, but was wondering if I will get better from a looted and REed engine then this player made one. It is the only piece on my ship I am unsure about.

I know higher PRY = win in PvP just curious how much speed I will have to sacrifice for it. Why do I care about speed? Nothing better than strafing in at 2036 while your opponent isn't even ready for you. And with my 3200 - 5130 dmg gun (before WO4), one shot is usually all it takes.

Granted, if it comes to a dogfight, I still have much to learn against some of the better pilots. I can hold my own, but am by no means the best there is at space PvP.

So your thoughts please.

one think to keep in mind about the vaskai, is that with its mass and speed modifier, it can make an incredible jouster, so, personally, id say go with your current engine, slap a really big shield in there, use shield adjust extreme, you could have around 4k front shields, easily, throw in big enough armor, and you can easily shrug off one or two hits from just about any weapon out there. so, try the jousting angle with it, if you are going for a pyr engine, expect a speed in the 90s unless you get a very nice qid

While most of what I know about space I learned from you, I have at least afew theories...

You would lose a pretty good bit of speed, unless you managed to get ahold of a pre-nerf engine of some kind. Close to 200-300 before EOx, I think.

I'd figure with the way the vaksai hitbox is set up getting into a dogfight would be ill-advised, in addition to its PRY settings (which I believe are lower than the JSF/x-wing, though roughly equal to that of the imperial guard tie. Some slight variations between the vak and the IG TIE, besides the extra 50k or so mass). The vaksai would assumably do better pushing for as much speed as physically possible, boosters and all. Come screaming in, take your shots, and then book it out of there before taking another pass.

Maybe look into the tactics of jet fighters (like the German jet fighters towards the end of WWII) when facing off against bombers and dog-fighters. Except ignoring all the altitude based tactics, which don't really apply in space.

But, thats just my guess. Haven't ever done much research, but most people don't use the vaksai in PvP (or at all, I sometimes suspect) so there isn't much data I've seen on how you want the engine to work. Maybe look at how people set up a-wings or the IG TIE, though I still think speed is what you should be banking on.
