Thread: Just how hard is it to find Level 8 weapons?

I've been running Tier 4/Tier 5 boss duties like a man possessed the last couple of days and not once have I looted a single lvl 8 weapon - is this par for the course?
I've looted all manner of other "junk" (I have so much of it I haven't had time to work out if its junk yet or not) all the way up to Level 10. Looted plenty of generic Level 8 equipment, but no Level 8 guns
I was really hoping to kit out my Bel22 with 2 Level 8 guns, and as an Imperial pilot I'm not going to be getting one as a reward any time soon.
Searched the bazaar and predictably there are none on there at all galaxy-wide.
So, what are my options folks?
I heard rumour of a quest on Kash that gives some sort of "Ionic" weapon which is Lvl 8.. can Imperials do this?

Cant remember the quest but yes there is one from kash, but tbh its not great or at least the 2 i have arent.

I got multiple lvl 8 guns from the merc cruisers near kash space station... And they're easy to kell as well

This might just be me, but I find that different fighters drop different components. If I do a Black Sun duty, 9 times out of 10 I'll pick up a fair few weapons in the 7-10 level band, picked up a lovely level 8 with 23051 mass yesterday, yet if I go do one against Imperial fighters, I rarely get weapons.
Maybe you should try doing a different duty against different fighters and see what you get.
Also, the Ionic Pulse weapon is a level 7, and yes, imperials can do it, just start the quest out of kash station.
Oh, and for a B-22, two level 8s seems a little heavy, maybe a well RE'd Boltdriver/IPW and a Borstel/Incom.
Oh, and Oblox, you should see mine, 3290.2 max damage on my IPW, fan-fricking-tastic for a level 7!

Problem I've got there is that I have no way of getting Tier 4+ Black Sun duties as an Imperial, and I can't get to Deep Space as I am not a Master Pilot. I've seen Tier 3 Black Sun around as a random spawn but thats about it.
I'll try some alternative duties, have been just going after Velocity ships lately.

Level 8s have been a pain in my ass, along with 7 and 9. I'm one L9 short of an RE job, and since I've been trying to get that last one, I've gone from just my Nym's starmap L10 gun, to having seven of the bastages sitting in my shed.

All I seem to get is TONS of level 8-10 capactors.Most of them not very good. But I do get a gun here and there doing BS or killing GBs in Kessel. Very few engines though, which is what I'm really after. What really bugs me is that I just need one more level 8 engine with high pitch to RE my QID and I have yet to find it.

Speaking of capacitors... I was getting really excited for my YT due to the maturation of my L10 cap project. It will be around 60 recharge and 1800 energy with around 750 or so drain...
...and then I found out that it will be obsolete the day I was planning to get it RE'd.
