In my Dunelizard I am using a combination of reactor overload 4, engine overload 4, and capacitor overload 4. Yes, I know the last two cause a high reactor drain, hence the reactor overload. And I'm aware that they cause slight decay. I'll deal.
My problem is that when my ship is destroyed and I respawn at the station, the engine and capacitor overloads are still in effect, but the reactor has been reset to it's normal level. This, of course, over-draws the reactor and disables the shields, weapons and (my personal favorite) the droid interface. With the droid interface gone I obviously can't reset anything. This has also happened a few times when I hyperspace out of an area.
The only solutions to the issue I've found so far are either waiting for a server reset or re-deeding the ship. I'd like to know if anyone else has ran into this problem and if they've found a different work-around.

That is wierd, mine always reset. Try running Emergency Thrust, it seems that the emergency commands reset all droid commands when they disable certain things.

What happens if you pull the droid interface and then launch into space? One would hope that would clear all the droid programs without you having to redeed. Be kinda interesting to be running droid programs without a droid though...
