I have an old 2 button joy stick, should i use that for JtL or key-board mouse? which is better?

yep, most of those saitek cyborg evo sticks i saw seem to have 5 buttons + hat and a trigger on the stick alone, twist handle, are adjustable to your hand and have a throttle. might find one for $30 or less. else it depends on how old your stick is. if its still halfway precise and not completely worn out you can give it a try, but if its just about efficiency then hitting might be easier with a mouse.
x52 would be great and if they ever bring out a version that doesnt look like a xmas tree id buy one in an instant. but who needs a gazillion annoying leds and a huge lcd display on a joystick? and of course: hello? how about us lefties? not a single company bother to have all the lefties as customers (as so far nobody else seems to want us you would think it could be worth it).
x52 would be great and if they ever bring out a version that doesnt look like a xmas tree id buy one in an instant. but who needs a gazillion annoying leds and a huge lcd display on a joystick? and of course: hello? how about us lefties? not a single company bother to have all the lefties as customers (as so far nobody else seems to want us you would think it could be worth it).

Whilst it is possible to function with a keyboard and mouse, its generally a lot easier to use a Joystick for most people. Of course no-one can really say "you're going to find it easier with a Joystick"; since some people do like using a mouse/keyboard combo.
Personally I advise you to pick up a Cyborg Evo joystick from Saitek. They generally sell for under 30 quid, and they last for ages.

No Sh**!!!!! I lovemy Cyborg Evo Force, would buy an X52 in a second! But only if they had a left handed version. At leastSaitek doesmake one of the best lefty sticks IMHO, if ya have not heard their Cyborg line are sweet for us left hand stick right hand mouse gang. Got to give them credit for that......

i got the saitek cyborg evo for christmas last night
although im used to the mouse so its going to take some time till im good with it

Well, its hard to say honestly. I am a joystick man totally for flight sims. Some are good with Joystick and mouse. I say try em both and use whichever feels more comfortable. Since you only have a 2 button controller, you are going to still use your keyboard to some extent. I use about 4 buttons on my stick, but once they get the X52 working with SWG im picking one of those up. I feel its worth the $40 buck for you to pick a mid level joystick with a twist handle and a throttle. You wont be sorry to have a twist handle, trust me.

Ok, here ya go... Logitech Extreme 3d Pro
12 button joystick, throttle control, twist handle, 8 position hat
costs $30 at Walmart
only time I've had to calibrate it was when I installed the software.

imho the big advantage with a multi-button JS is that you dont need to look down to see what button you are hiting.
i got all 8 buttons on my MS SWII stick mapped to stuff like target, target subcomponent, shoot missle, shoot CM, etc,
i am even thinking, as i get higher up, to upgrade to a 12 button monster.

im still fighting with myself. so far im still using my sidewinder ff which i bought a long time ago (still the version with a built-in fan) when i planned to just get used to using my right hand. im not and the grip is extremly uncomfortable. but now im spoiled and would prefer a version thats either optical or at least contact free. not sure if the cyborgs are as they are suspiciously cheap ,-)
the frustrating part is that the x45 and x52 have sticks that can be used left handed without any problems but the throttle (especially the new one) is a bit too ergonomic. else i would just turn that thing 180 and stick with the 1-2 buttons that are still in reach (or start another feeble attempt of using the other hand, which i would of course give up after a few hours and never use the throttle at all.. replacable grips or a symmetric layout would already be enough for me, i'd even be willing to pay extra for the second grip).
