Thread: Spurious Ship movements.

I dunno if this is a common bug or if it is due to my joystick (A sidewinder) but I am getting spurious ship movements such as regular 180 barrel rolls and speed dropping off for a few seconds. If I move the stick during one of these movements it stops it instantly. I assume it is a game bug?

Does anyone else get this sorta thing happening?

It could be joystick related. Mine rolls, sometimes, and sometimes drifts right. I also cannot roll to the right nearly as quickly as I can to the left. I checked it out and it appears to be related to joystick calibration....and I can't fix it. I'm going to be picking up a new joystick today, or tommorow.

I have been noticing other strange ship movements...

Engine dies out for 1.5 seconds and then starts up again (Deadly if it happen in combat cause you loose 1.5 seconds worth of distance)

sudden rolls even though I am not ordering them (with and withouth Joystick)

I havent had any 180 or 360 Turns yet but I supect them to be on their way

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro ftw

Have never calibrated this thing (except for installation) and haven't had one problem with it... Pick one up at Walmart for $30 US, you'll be glad you did. Thing even has 12 buttons.

In short, check if your USB port gives enough power to devices that are connected to that USB hub (usually 2 devices per bridge). May also help just to connect it to another USB hub (like I connected it to an extra slot of the motherboard).

You can check it in the Control Panel/System/Device Manager ("power" tab of USB Hub device). If the power consumption of all devices connected to the hub is more than the 'Total power available' then you might have a problem with the stability of your joystick.

That problem can be if you have keyboard/mouse/joystick connected to the same USB hub.

Rolling could also be caused by the options in the Controls section of Options - uncheck 'auto-level' if it's checked - might fix that issue.

I've had one mess up on me, but I returned to Wal-Mart for an exchange of the exact same one, the new one has never messed up. The first one had developed a problem with its right yaw.

But if you snap one in half on a hard turn, all I can say is that you gotta be playing to rough with it. Smooth and easy will do the job. The only times you'll see a pilot slam the flight stick in a direction is in movies.
