I know, Im being a complete noob here. But I just got jtl today, and got started on the entry missions on tat from Dravis.

Well, i got to the escort mission and an hour and a half later Im still fighting waves. I have no clue if its supposed to take that long or not, but I hadnt planned on being online that long and now I know that (if it wasnt bugged or something) Ill have to set aside a good chunk of time just to do that mission.

I hope the rest of this profession's missions arent that "one sitting" focused.

At any rate, is that a normal amount of time for that mission? And if not, what was I doing wrong?

this might help, all faction missions in tier 1 and 3 give you a skill per mission, and 2 and 4 are grind for your skill tree.It sounds like you have a duty mission, you run them till you have enough points to train, then repet till next tier.

I thought so too, but it said that I couldnt leave the sector until I completed the mission. And after that 1:30, I had to leave and when I landed it said I hadnt completed my assignment and I tried to talk to Dravis but he just reminded me that I had work to do.

Anyone know the exact mission Im talking about?

Hi,

when you are bored of the duty mission, or have enough xp, open your datapad (ctrl + d) click on the mission thats in your pad to bring up the radial menu, then just select 'end mission'. This will give you a mission complete message, and you can now leave the system, go back to your trainier for another one.

Give me back the game i paid for please!

dont just assume its a duty mission. in a duty mission you will escort one ship and when it jumps the next one will arrive.. repeat for all eternity.
yes, there are a few escort missions that seem to take forever (usually with loooong periods of boredom between waves). no, i have no idea why the devs thought they would be fun. yes, there are missions you will spend 45-60min on (maybe more in some factions).

i take it the mission is in tat. usually duty missions end when you jump to a different system. notice that if it is a duty mission you end it via your _datapad_ NOT the quest journal (seems to be a common misunderstanding).
