ok so i finally got my first X-wing with 100k mass, then i hear about a heavy X-wing with 180k mass... is there any advantage to using the lighter smaller X-wing? or is it just all around better to use the 180k mass version?

There are two differences basically, the mass and the appearance that is slightly different (the heavy X looks like an X wing with side strakes). All other stats are equal.

I fly a standard X-wing with lvl 8 reward shield, lvl 10 engine and three lvl 5 re'd blasters. Oh, I have mk III protons and chaff too along with armour. I find that this is plenty of firepower for pve (since usually I fly an A-wing exclusively so in fact it feels like a lot of firepower to me) and for pvp, the damage caused by three re'd lvl 5 blasters running WO3 causes a one hit disable most of the time, whilst maintaining the sleek unspoiled lines of the X-wing starfighter. Sidestrake look = yucky in my oppinion.

The blasters are also perfectly syncronised with a refire rate of .300 so damage over tiem wise, they're very effective and I know that they'll always collide with a target simultaineously.

Leaph is all about "sleek lines". I love the side strakes and the 80k of mass but you can do alot with either one of them imo. (meaning the standard or adv x)
