Wondering if the Pilot professions were respec-able, and if so, what issues I might need to watch out for if I intend to only take a new pilot profession temporarily.

Someone recently told me that a Neutral Ace Pilot that had once been an Imperial Ace would be able to enter DS while overt, instead of getting the "You do not have the required prestige" message, and thereby be able to gain FP while there. I am hoping if we can respec temporarily, I would be able to test that theory without the neccissary regrind.

Hrm...

Can anyone confirm or deny the claim I heard recently, then? I'd hate to spend the next several weeks grinding out Imperial ace then re-grinding Neutral just to find out I still cant enter DS while overt...

You can't. Entering deep space overt needs to go through the imp station. Imp station requires imp prestige. You get stripped of all imp prestige when you drop imp ace.
