Thread: A bug I'm getting that I think is being caused by flying a POB ship

Okay, whenever I land after flying a POB ship, I get a bug, that doesn't let me use numbers, periods, or backslash ( / ). And it's not a problem with my keyboard, as when I'm out of SWG, I am able to use those keys. But when I go back to SWG, I can't. And it doesn't seem like there's a way to fix this problem, I've tried relogging, completely exiting out of SWG and logging back in, nothing. It seems to just go away after a period of time.
I got the bug once when I landed from flying my yacht, then again from flying my yacht, then one from flying my YT-1300. I don't know what causes it. It's not frequent at all, but when I get it, I just gotta tough it out till it goes away. I haven't tried completely restarting, but I didn't think it would make that much of a difference.
Anyways, am I alone witht his bug? Or are other people getting it too? Thanks.

I'm getting something like it, when i come back from space i cant type anythingm single letters sometimes bring up ui boxes or do nothing atall, or using ctrl-i or the other commands dont work atall.

It's really annoying, because without the / button, I can't do any commands...though I can still make questionmarks..

I have several time been hit by a bug that is some worth like this from the ground game. My number keys simply do not work.
I experienced it the first time after the new modeless control style was interdicted. If you remember in the old days we could use num lock to switch between typing text and moving our characters. Then one of the patched took that option away. When we tried to move our character with the numeric keyboard it spammed numbers in our chat box.
The when they tried to fix that oversight they did not restore the old code, but made a some code that filters out the numbers of the numeric keyboard from the chat box. I know that because, sometimes when I move my character around with the numeric keyboard and experience client lag the numbers from the numeric keyboard slips throe the code and is put in to the chat box.
What happen sometimes is that the code thinks a key is pressed when it is not. (This happens when a key have been held down for a while, and other keys have been pressed and released during that time). if the key the code think is presse3d is on the numeric keyboard all numbers will be filtered out when the client reads the keyboard buffer. If the key the program thinks is pressed is crtl pressing I would give you the result of a crtl+I.
My private workaround is standing in a low lag area and pressing all the keys on my numeric keyboard one by one (or the crtl, shift, and alt keys on both sides of the keyboard is it is that variant)

You arn't alone, i have had this bug twice, once it went away quickly, the second time it was as you described, nothing could get rid of it. So one guy told me to do a total restart because he had had the same problem. so i restart and it works.
In short, a total system restart will do the trick

Well, it happened to me once, but I didn't just land a POB ship and I had to restart the comp to eradicate it. *shrug*

Alright, yeah, I just got it again and restarting worked fine. At least I can fix it now....

Something similar to that happened to me
I was in my friend's yacht and when it loaded I couldnt type,move the reticle very far, and when i examined an elevator (on accident) i could not exit out of it and my friend was sitting in his captain's chair not doing anything
long story short i logged in and out twice, the second time i could move my mouse more so i left the group and VOILA it got fixed
so i go into the main hall and my friend is laughing because -APARENTLY- i was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off
(now i have a phobia of yachts, gg man)

I'M NOT ALONE! For the longest time I figured this was just something wrong with my computer or game. I've never had it happen to me in space, in fact, when it happens to me on the ground game (It's happened to me nearly ten times now!) my keys work again in space. But I land and they're disabled again. It's an infuriating bug. (Don't forget Ctrl + T brings up /tell for when it happens) Aslo switching to MMORPG modless seems to let you use them again, if you switch back they stop working again.

Funny thing is, after I made this thread, I got the bug. ...but I was waiting for a shuttle. I guess it's just random, or sometimes it does involve space, but others, it's just random. I don't know, this bug is annoying.

I dunno...on my laptop I know this happens to me sometimes...but its just cause the numberlock is on or somethin....dunno why cause I dont think my desktop acts that way...but of course who knows what other things my Fn key does when I press it and numberlock lol

Count me in. Happens periodically when I land or even when I launch while in my Nova Courier. There've been a couple situations where its happened when I'm in space and I go to fire a missile, and nothing happens.
It affects the Space Bar, the top number bar, except - and =, along with / and . and ,
Very annoying and verging on game breaking, depending on circumstances.
