Well, I guess I shouldn't overdramatize, there are POB components worthy of the title, but thems few and far between. I just wanted to highlight a few components I've made myself to give you some background. I'ma Master Shipwright, and by most accounts, a pretty good one, considering I'm only a 10/15 pointer.

Some side by sides.

Reactor:

23556 Energy Generation, 250k mass. This one wasn't overly disappointing, since its an impressive step up from the 19141 Type V I was using. Still, to go from 50k-ish mass to 250k (actually, a little heavier because I used aType VEnhancer on it) for only a 4300 point increase in output is pretty bleh.

Capacitor.

1138 energy, 64.4 Regen. Not bad overall, but I had a Type V that was 925/60.5, so again, the incremental increase in efficiency ain't stellar.

Shield

3475 Front/Back 15.5 Regen. This one finally showed some pedigree. Compared to the Type V it replaced at 2266 Front/Back 13.55 Regen.

Blasters

Null Bolts, 4360 max damage, .33 refire, 30.5 energy per shot, .497 vs Shields/Armor Color me VERY happy until I picked up the loot gun from Nym's Starmap that was .1 seconds slower, 100 points more damaging with incredible multipliers versus shields and armor. Compared to my best Experimental Blasters, with similar refires, slightly less energy per shot with 3757 max damage. A modest improvement, but still notable.

Armor

Jebus, the Devs are terrified at the possibility we might cover our asses, aren't they?

2850 armor protection is a pittance compared to my best Type V at 2588.

I haven't had the time to attempt a Booster and I'm holding off on an engine till I hear they fix the schematic. But if anyone was considering the time and expense of upgrading, this should help make a better informed decision about what's worth what.

Capacitor - Is that a quick recharge or heavy battery?

Weapon - What did you experiment on? What Mark V upgrade? There is a huge difference between 0.33 and 0.43. The 0.33 blaster fires 3 times per second. The 0.43 blaster fires 2.3 times per second. Hopefully it has the vs. numbers to bump up the damage. I would do 9 points in refire, 3 in vs. shields, and 3 in vs. armor myself. I would also use a Mark V Quickshot upgrade with 9 points into refire rate. I thought, doing this, that the null bolt would hit 0.25 refire rate and 0.5 vs. numbers. That is huge damage per second. Of course, that assumes your gunners can hit the broad side of a mercenary cruiser, turret gunning is not easy.

The Capacitor used a Quick Charge Mark V. The Null Bolts used Type V Max Damage Intensifiers.

Experimentation on the Capacitor was all into recharge. The Null Bolts took 9 points into max damage, 2 into refire and 2 each into vs. Shields and vs. Armor.

Enhancers used in these:

Armor: TypeV Reinforcement

Reactor:Type V Overcharger (I forget the exact name offhand, its the one that increases output, obviously)

Capacitor: Type V Quick Charge Battery

Shield: Type V Shield Intensifier

Null Bolts: Type V Max Damage Enhancer

In PVE situations I have had allot of success in POB (What does POB stand for?) ships equiped with standard fighter equipment.

The trick is to be useing a capacitor with allot of energy, a fast droid interfaceand a man at the ships command console to shunt the shields at all times (unlimited shields). Your gunners must be lag free, if they are experiencing any chop in the turrets then that gun is out of commission andare rendered useless.

In PVP if your missiles dont get to the opponent before your opponent(s) are in fireing range you are dead in 2-3 hits. You can put those POB shields and armor on but most fighters are hitting for 4k+. Do the math, your dead no matter what in 2-3 hits.

I have a looted level 10 droid interface with a speed of 10 and change. I had a Type V Droid Interface that was 12.1 speed before.

For Ops, I've had friends come with me and a multi-boxing guildmate stick one of his alts there running a capshunt macro. I run CapShunt4 right now, but I'm considering a stepback to CapShunt3 so I don't trip up my gunners. As it is right now, both of those guns going at once on that Capacitor with CapOverload4 doesn't twitch the red bar even slightly. For the record, I do NOT use Weapon Overload 3, I use Overload 4.

Even though those weapons arent probably as good as a good re'd lvl 10, 2800-5000damage .800+ vs armor and shield, .380 refire rate. You can CRAFT them. Looted lvl 10 guns are pretty rare and take a long time to aquire the right parts for a good re job. The rest of it is lacking heavily though (reactor doesnt matter). I think pob ship guns should also have the ability to hit a wider area especially for pvp.

about PvP and POB components....

They are already viable in PvE to some degree, the problem with making them viable in PvP is that if you boost the components too much they would be unstoppable in PvE, for example a 10k front and back shield, might make them viable in PvP but would make them way to overpowered in PvE. They need to have modifiers applied to only them like damage reduction by 60-70%.

It doesn't matter. There's another thread on this forum withsomeone whining to have the mass on level 9 and level 10 guns LOWERED. That's f*cking insane. Those levels of weapon should be damned near, if not completely, unusable on anything less than an Oppressor/B-Wing/Krayt/Firespray or POB.

Having level 10 crafted weapons with a mass of 250,000 doesn't even BEGIN to jibe with looted level 10 weapons barely topping out at 50,000 mass.

I understand mine are replaceable, but what's the point of replaceable weapons that no one will use because they're too busy farming Kessel and Deep Space forbetter-than-crafted loot?

The mass argument is pointless with the 250k mass guns. It was just a way to limit them from getting into smaller ships. You can still completly outfit a POB (5 million mass) ship with 250k mass components with no problem. So there isnt any argument there really.

Now I have done about 150 million prestige points and 11 aces months of loot grinding since jtl was launched, and I have managed to make a total of 4 lvl 10 re jobs. That also with me buying probably a dozen of them off other vendors. I think the rarety of these guns makes it reasonable.

Only the hardcore pilots spend all their time farming for loot. The rest just buy SW crafted gear or use non-REd looted components. Heck, I consider myself a pretty hardcore pilot, and most of my gear is self-crafted. The only thing REd on my Kryat is my capacitor.

I guess all I am saying is, there are lots of people who will and do use this stuff. Try Quickshot upgrades and max refire rate, then vs (9 refire, 3 vs. shields, 3 vs armor). You'll be pleasantly surprised with your damage output. Max damage sells more guns but quickshot upgrades do more damage.

My point is this. You have 4 RE'd level 10 guns. That's 40 weapons that were looted and completely useable until you had them RE'd, and I'm willing to bet that even if they're stats weren't as uber as the final result, they were still more than enough to give a crafted level 10 a run for its money.

The problem I have is that even looted level 9 and level 10 weapons should not be feasible components on fighters, ever. Part of the imbalance issue is that is crippling and sidelining POB ships is that its very easy to put just as much, if not more, firepower in a fighter than you can stick on one of them.

Take a B-Wing example I've heard. A level 10 RE'd loot gun on the chin backed up by RE'd level 7's on the other three hardpoints. That's nuts. Even with a pair of Null bolts, that's outperforming the Nova by a light year because its nigh impossible for a Nova to bring both weapons to bear on one target at one time. Even my own Heavy X-Wing with its trio of Level 7 Advanced Blasters puts more damage on a targe than the POB because its puttingTHREE 2880 damage blasters on a target versus ONE 4360.

The math is exceedingly simple. Only on the largest targets, like YE-4's or Corvettes or Star Destroyers, do the POBs come close to matching damage potential, countered by its large size making it an easy target to shoot down.

Interesting idea. I'll put together some Experimentals tonight and see how it shakes loose.

I'll save the triple qouting.

90% of lvl 10 drops have stats like this 2200-4000 damage .6 vs armor and shields with .440 refire rates 60k mass. So out of 40 drops only probably 4 maybe 6 of them would even have a chance of competing with your guns. With the exception of the rare (I forget name but its always the best .75 vs armor shield) lvl 10 weapon drop I dont think any of them can outdamage your guns with out being re'd. Its that added 6% after they are re'd with the right mix of components that makes them powerful and light weight (relativly).

Now I agree you have a point and maybe POB ships should be able to take down the biggest targets the fastest, especially being limited to 2 weapon slots and having as many as 3-5 people in a good loadout. But I dont think POB ships were designed for taking out fighters in mass. My PA usually goes to DS with one Decimator and a slew of fighter escorts to handle the fighters. I dont have a problem with POB crafted weapons doing more damage to bring them up to par or even exceed with a "uber" re'd 3 or 4 gun ship. Personaly I wouldlike tosee the area in which a hit is registered to be increased.

edit add...

I read your post on the other thread where you called POB ships "light capital ships". I dunno, in stricklty old naval terms, you had gunboats, vettes, light cruisers, cruisers, battleships. A light cruiser would be considered the first of light capital ships. A POB ship doesnt even compare to the load out on a swg gunboat. I'm not sure what their role should be but I would rather have them more viable against fighters then smashing gunboats. I wish all gunboats acted like they do in Kash space, because right now anyone with half a brain can run into DS or Kessel and rip down 3 gunboats in little or no time because they just keep flying in a straight path.
