Thread: Darn Emergency Thrust

Shades of EQ and the "invisibility" and "fiegn death" commands. I think if you have a skill, it should work more times than not. I have only used ethrust once for much the same reason.

Whether ethrust works depends heavily on your skill mod for pilot commands. It failed for me on a pretty regular basis when I was on tier 1 and 2, but by the time I made master, it wasn't failing at all.

Of course, it ends up resetting your droid commands, and as ethrust tends to add less speed than EO3 on a nice engine, that means it's eminently useless. A situation that should probably be looked at by the devs.

To get ethrust working you need plenty of spare reactor capacity, use reactor overcharge first and see how you get on.

I was in my Kimogila the other day, and bit off a bit more than I kid chew. I managed to take out a fewbig guntoting guys before they launched missles. I lauched a few countermeasures and boosted outta there quick as I could, and thought "Hey- I can finally use that ethrust command". I tried it, and got a reactor scram or some darn thing like that. The ship stopped moving, and I got blown to bits. And at the ridiculous rate my ship chassis is decaying, she only has about ten destructions left, and she's nearly brand new.

Anyways, after I repaired I spenttwo hours testing out the ethrust command. Odds are, four out of every twenty one tries, you will be successful. I am never using that command again, obviously.

I used the reactor overcharge and got it to work pretty much everytime. I still aint gonna use it, however, until I am certain that if I don't I am going to get fried. It really is heartbreaking to see your chassis take a hit. I used in once in combat, when I declared Imperial in space and got attacked by a bunch of tier one Headhunters while I was doing a Freelancer Mission. My engine took a hit, and at that point it was all or nothing, so I used the command. It worked very well.

However, now another question arises. If I use the thrust and boosters at teh same time, I am assuming that the boosters add to whatever speed I am going at the moment, and do not simply bring up my speed to a certain point, like speed 60 lets say, no matter how fast I was going before. OF course, I can't be sure, so is using teh thrust and boosters more effctive than boosters, or is it basically the same.

They should both add to your total top speed.

Boosters and /ethrust are mutually exclusive. One cannot be used in conjunction with the other.

/ethrust also cancels out engine overload in my experience. From a speed point, it equals about the same as Engine Overload 3 in my tests. It also pulls the same amount of energy from the reactor (often disabling parts or if you still don't have enough energy, makes you go boom)

This is standard op for me as well (and I'm halfway through tier 3). Everytime I use e-thrust I get the killed because everything gets turned off.

I use ethrust when traveling back to the station, (i'm only 2121), that way if i scram, i'm not dead. But for the above post, my ship at full spped move at about 585, when i boost i get 780, now when i ethrust, at full speed i go at about 790, then hit my boosters adn iget in to the 900's. So you CAN use them both together, i would just hit ethurst first, then the boosters. I've found that when i'm boosting, then ethrust, i scram every time, but that may just be my crappy parts
