How do you target an asteroid without targeting the bandit?


/tar ast targets a bandit 2k away even if there is a chunk right in front of me.

First they came for the Jedi and I did not speak out because I was not a Jedi.
Then they came for the Bounty Hunters and I did not speak out because I was not a Bounty Hunter.
Then they came for the crafters and I did not speak out because I was not a crafter.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I have "target under reticle (nvm spelling)" as a hotkey on my mouse... Very convenient, also in multi NPC fights. Works fine on asteroid chunks

i use the ; key which targets nearest friendly...99/100 it targets the asteroid, when a chunk flies off hit it again, it will target the chunk

This is what I have found works best... and it it so usefull in other aspects of space.
