Thread: Controller Setup
I use the PS2 style controller, as it is extremely comfortable. I have been mining lately so my controls chaged some. First off I made a macro /throttle .66 (sets the speed to 2/3) which is a nice throttle setting for most ships. Everything else is in the Keymap Option Menu. I like the fact they now have a tab for it instead of looking under controls. But this is how I have it set up:
Square: Match Speed
X: Target Under Reticle
Circle: Target Component
Triangle: Clear Target
R1: Fire and Cycle Weapon
R2: Nearest Enemy
L1: Fire and Cycle Ordinance
L2: Nearest Enemy Player
R3: Throttle 2/3 Macro
L3: Throttle Full Speed
Start: Throtle Stop
Select: Booster
The P+Y are controlled by the Left Stick, and the Roll is controlled by the Right stick.
I then set my Counter Measure to the space barso I can easly find it when PVPing
Bind joyb1 (trigger) to "fire current weapon group" instead of first and cycle.
Bind joyb2 (thumb button 1) to "fire ordinance group" instead of fire and cycle.
Bind shift+joyb1 and shift+joyb2 to cycle the group.
There are three thumb buttons on the cyborg, the second one is countermeasures and the third is boosters. throttle is on the base, along with four more buttons - I never use those buttons. Unless I'm in active combat one hand is on the keyboard anyway and follow is one of my F-keys.
One hand stays on the joystick, one moves between the throttle and the keyboard. It works pretty well; when I'm locked on target, everything I need is on the joystick; when I'm between targets, everthing I need is on the keyboard (like switching weapon groups, switching targets, and so on.) The binding changes came about when mining lasers entered into the picture, and it became desirable to not waste capacitor energy on them except when mining. I'm sure you could switch between ion cannons and disruptors with them, but most fights are too short for it to matter.
