I think I got my ego set back a notch or two. I am flying RSF on Eclipse, and I am doing the 2nd Tier 3 mission. It starts with an escort of a YT1300 and I get through that ok. I survive the pirate assault after that, all well and good. Then I am supposed to hyper to the Correllia system. That is where I have some problems. Not with the ships, but with the Tier3 YT that is with them.

How do you beat this thing? I tried to use the same tactics I used with the GB's in Kessell but that did not work. I tried to approach them from the top, then from the bottom. No dice. This thing has got to have a blind spot, but I cant seem to find it.

I am going to try again this afternoon. I do plan to make a few upgrades to the ship first, but in the meantime, any suggestions to take out this pesky YT would be appreciated.

Not sure he has shunt available at his level but high speed passes with the engine targeted would be my tactic. Reactor for whatever reason doesn't always stop NPCs.

With a top and bottom mounted guns on the YT there isn't a big blind spot. Best to attack from an angle where only one gun can hit you.

I tried ptrap1 as a distraction, and even with the "helper" ships that are dispatched to assist you, the YT is good at bearing down on you. I think I am going to need some missles at this point.

I am 2322 pilot flying a dunelizard, and use all RE'd equipment. I will upgrade my shields, engine, and guns to level 7 this evening, and see if that helps.

All droid commands are available to all pilots at all levels - all you need is a droid or flight comp to fit the chips in. You can usually find some droid command chips on the bazaar or vendor search.

If you don't have certain droid commands available to you simply do a vendor search...several people will have programmed chips with high level commands for sale, just get them and plug away.

What I did to get through a similar mission was to pack a couple of concussion missile launchers to take down the shields, and then target one of the guns to eliminate it.

The only way to do this is to do strafing runs; start a good distance out, run in and launch missiles, follow up with a few shots, and then run out of range. Repeat until a gun is dead. If you're really determined, you can kill the reactor instead. This will still allow the YT to shoot at you until the capacitor's energy runs out, though, and oddly enough it may not prevent a hyperspace jump.

YT's do not have a blind spot unless you take out one of the guns. The worst angle to approach a YT from is along its horizontal plane, as both guns will be able to shoot at you.

WO3 is worth buying, and WCO2 and CtSS2 should be enough (though 3 is nicer).

Missles are probably a bad idea. NPC's generally have too many shield hit points to make them worth your while. Not to mention flying at the YT and getting a lock with a heavy missle is going to be... uhh.. interesting. Just swing in and take short bursts at it... don't try for a 1 or 2 pass kill.

I did this mission (or at least the smuggler's alliance equivalent).

I made sure I had high dam to shields gun on one mount, and then a high dam to armor gun on the other.

I targeted the weapons systems and took those out, and then systematically destroyed the rest of the ship.
