Feel stupid asking this, but its my first mission mining. I have been to the astriod and have been shooting it for about 30 minutes then go back to where I got the quest just for him to say "Are you supposed to be mining". Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Any help is thankful. I have my mining laser and cargo hold equiped. just can't see what I am doing wrong.

The first thing you need to make sure you are doing is shooting the asteroid with your mining laser. A chunk of the asteroid will then break away. Follow the chunk and continue shooting. It will then break up into 2-6 smaller chunks. The small chunks will then be loaded into your cargo hold once you shoot them as well.

when you shoot the big asteroid, middle sized chunks break off of it.
when you shoot the middle sized chunks, they break into smaller chunks.
When you shoot / tractor the smaller chunks, they go into your cargo hold.

Unless of course, the asteriod has 'run out' of chunks. Then you just need to keep shooting it until it blows up. Another one will spawn in its place. You'll be able to mine the new one properly
