Hey everyone. I was helpin a guildie out with one of his Tier 4 pilot missions that he just couldn't get through (the tier 4 exit mission). He claimed he tried it with like 5 people, but they kept getting taken out by the Tier 4 YT-1300. I decided I would go in for the first one and disable (Yeah, I screwed that one up). I went in, targeted weapons, and began firing, about 8 seconds later, the ship blew up. 8 seconds for a Tier 4 YT-1300, I've never seen anything like this, and I was the first person I've seen doing it. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
Basically, I'm asking how often does this happen? I think the longest it took me to down one of those things was like 12-14 seconds.

It might have something to do with the variable damage range on weapons.
Maybe you rolled twenties and hit near-max each time.

Yeah, but on 12 in a row? Granted there were fighter escorts that I was taking out as well, but still.
I've got 2 guns firing forward, don't remember the min dmg on them, but both are max of +3700. Both have slightly higher to shields, one is .78, the other .52, then to armor lookin at .28, and .49.
I'm also running Cap overload 3 and Weapons overload 3. I was doing more dmg to the corvette than bomber strike 3 was later in the evening. Could've been high rolls on all runs, but it really doesn't seem likely. Looks like Cap + Weap overoad stack though.

I found that it does depend on what you are shooting at. If you can take out the front or backshields and armor and get in a few more shots ona head on pass or strafing runyou will kill them. That front or rear section has been completely exposed and is extremely weak. I shall explain: I usually go head on with NPC's too se how fast I can kill them. Usually the first headon run I can kill 1 NPC before they pass me. I find if you shoot at and hit the same spot on the enemy ship, from the same direction, then you will get quicker kills. As opposed to chasing them and having to shoot at different sections of the shields and armor as your enemy twists, and turns, and of course go round and round and round and round and..... well you get the point.

There's the front, and there's the back, shfire. It's just as easy to get quick kills by slotting in behind and sticking like glue and eliminating the rear protection. I havent met an NPC yet that is truly good at actual evasion, the only advantage some have (T5 droid fighters) is size and speed.

Yes that is what my point was. As opposed to a fast craft , like a tier5A-wing, where you are going round and round and just hoping to get a hit on it. Then you are hitting front, rear everything and most of the time have the armor and shields down to 0 before it goes.

Hehe, I'm operating from a position where nothing is faster than me, most of the time. But I agree when you ain't as fast or faster, let them come to you is perfectly valid

NPC YTs, Decimators, and Couriers all drop pretty easily once you've got a couple high-level blasters trained on them. It's just soaking up the damage they do in the meantime that can be the tricky thing.
It makes me wonder, though, just how tough the devs intended these to be. PC ones clearly need some help, but if they're intentionally weak because they're supposed to be comparable to NPC versions or something, that might go a ways to explain their current condition.

Yup, I took on a Tier 4 gunship and it took twice the time to down it, so you're right about their shields. God I was rusty when I came back lol.

That's about right, a YT isnt a gunboat, remember. less shields, less armor, faster boom.
