My experience has been since discovering the awsome power of Cap to shield shunt has been... You don't need armor. Armor is a serious waste of mass and it realy does not offer good protection unless you spend half your ships mass on the armor, yuck!!!

On my fighters I concentrate on engines with high Yaw Pitch Roll (YPR) going no higher than a Mark IV.

I want the bigest baddest gun I can get if the ship only takes 1 weapon. If the ship will take 2 or more then I will use 2 lower damage gunz whose combined strength is greater than any single gun.

I'm good enough I can get away with 1.2k front and back protection. I dont know how good you are so more is probably better.

My droid interface is usualy a lev 1-3. The lower the command stat the faster the droid interface. I try to get as close to 20 as I can. Need mass for the gun(s).

Capacitor I try to find the lowest lev cap with a regen rate of 35 or better. I looted a sweet cap last night lev 4, regen 44, energy is 700 but I have other lev 4 caps I will combine with it to make a realy great cap.

Reactor I try to use a lev 1 low mass high output.

I don't use missles. Major waste of mass and money. PVP they are great. PvE they stink. A good aim with a good gun is all you ever need.

For countermeasurs I prefer sensory decoys as I fly around overt in normal space allot and missle users tend to use image recognition missles. I also go up against the tier 5 missle happy gunboats and the sensory decoys allways stop those leathal missles.

Level has less than nothing to do with it. The stats are all that matter and as has been said many MANY times here, higher LEVEL does not necessarily mean a better part.

True, but learning that balance is a trial and error thing. Given the costs associated with doing it behind crafting, its sometimes way beyond most people's bankrolls to go that route.

I am a 3333 freelance pilot on kettemoor. Up till now the missions have been relatively easy, but now I am taking missions from Nirame Sakute at the Dathomir Trade outpost. All the missions I get are nigh impossible. It takes me a good 3-8 minutes to destroy one ship, which doesn't bode over well when I'm being swarmed by 5 or more!

Is it my lack of skill (which I am fully prepared to accept), crappy equipment (see below), or did I miss something and is it better to do missions in space with others like you do on the ground?

Ixiyen Fast Attack Craft

Reactor: Mark III Fusion Reactor

Engine: Mark IV Starfighter Engine

Shield: Mark Shield

Front Armor: Mark

Rear Armor: Mark

Capacitor: Mark III Weapons Capacitor

Booster: None

DI: None

Weapon: Advanced Disruptor

Weapon: Advanced

No Droid programs? No wonder!

Get yourself weapon overload 3, capacitor overload 3, capacitor to shield shunt 3, reactor overload 3,and engine overload 3 and stuff them into a level 4 flight comp. Run them all while you fly.

no DI means no Droid programs, which means you're ignoring one entire branch of skills and abilities.

Read up on them in the FAQ.

If you are 3333, make sure you have level 7 guns and shields in your ship, and build everything else around that.

You should have your Level6 reward engine by now, I recommend collecting 5 others and getting them RE'd by a shipwright.

shave mass on your ship by getting a smaller reactor better suited to what you need. Higher level does not automatically mean better (that holds true for all parts btw), and there's nothing to gain by wasting mass and having more power than you can use.

Words of wisdom.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Running your ship without droid programs is like a TKM not running his COB macro, or a swordsman never using armor break. You'll be amazed at the difference it'll make.

DI is the most important thing almost on your ship. Being your a Neutral you get Cap overload.. very importaint. ALso, only use what you need for reactor. Some have postetd that already. Get your DI up first!!!!!!! A whhhoolllle new world will open up for you. Also. Suggestion, swap out speed on your blasters for max damage. You get the hose effect and I find you hit much more often. You might be able to find a imperial pilot wililng to help you with a weapon overload chip.. well if you fly for Naboo that is. (Always willing to help support loyal subjects of the Empire)

Ixiyen Fast Attack Craft (4)

Reactor: Mark III Fusion Reactor

Engine: Mark IV Starfighter Engine (3)

Shield: Mark Shield

Front Armor: Mark

Rear Armor: Mark

Capacitor: Mark III Weapons Capacitor

Booster: None

DI: None (2)

Weapon: Advanced Disruptor (1)

Weapon: Advanced

(1) Major boo boo. Disruptors are weighted heavily towards armor damage. Meaning its going to take a bit beating down shields with one of these. Stick to Blasters until you get into PvP where this distinction starts having meaning.

(2) As stated, this is HUGE. Its like pre-CU combat without Doctor buffs not having a droid program suite.

(3) If you must go crafted, there's Fuu Manchuu in Riverbend, Naboo. He's the guy who spits out 119 speed Type Vs. He should be able to get you a very slick Type IV.

(4) The Ixiyen may not be your best bet because its a light fighter with a HUGE hit box. I'd slip back into a Dunelizard personally.

My main problem has been trying to balance the energy/mass issue with good equipment.

Is having all the weapon slots filled important? My Engine should be the highest level piece of equipment? What about armor and shields what level should they be?

Get a DI and the powerups mentioned above. After testing on a few Tier 4 ships come back and tell us what you think then.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.
