Thread: Is there a better way to level as a group?
Takes a while to get used to supporting each other, but ends up being a LOT of fun, especially if you don't max out the guns and actually keep it a challenge.
not sure if imperials can do them though but worth a shot since they dont got any shields
Personally, I don't see why people just don't do the damned duty missions. I did them for T2 as a new grinder, back in the days when NO ONE had good loot (the opening 2-3 weeks of JTL).
There's absolutely no excuse why people can't do them now, and it's my personal opinion that we'd see a lot less "OMGWTFIMPOSSIBLE" threads if people learned at a early stage how to take on multiple-on-one engagements.
People when starting out simply don't know what's possible. I know I didn't. No matter how you start, or how many FAQs you read, you are going to run into a wall of frustration. Getting Through that, and continuing to learn, is what this is all about. Not everyone who jumps into a ship will be a pilot, it's not the same as mastering Sword, BH, or Jedi.
That's hitting me; We hear that Jedi "Earn" this, and that, and that BH's "Deserve" what not, but theirs is a very linear progression, They don't actually earn anything, they merely persist in the same direction. Pilotis Hand-Eye Coordination, rather than the training of a toon, you are required to train yourself, however minor that might be. Further Boxes don't grant you anything but better, quicker ways to get yourself blown up.
Young pilots are apprentices thrown into a shop with no Masters, Stacks of Timber, Piles of tools (with no indication as to whether they are sharp, set, or true), crude sketches, and told to go ahead and build a house. Well, in truth there are a series of tasks laid out in front of them. The opponents gradually become better and better, and the numbers more plentiful. With each obstacle overcome, confidence builds, but, they don't have true benchmarks to tell them how they are doing, certainly no models to observe, copy, and learn from. This often leads to Master Pilots who think they are hot stuff, yet, can't truely fly.
Tomo is quoted as saying thata Pilot without attitude is just a guy; there is attitude and thenthere is arrogance. When you only have yourself to measure against, or, others who are barely better or worse, that's where you get the "this crud is impossible" syndrome. I mean, if the Best pilot in the Galaxy can't take out a wave of 4 tier III's then... who can? Right?
I just wandered aimlessly around space until 3333 then settled down near witchblood territory in dath for the final 4mill xp.
This was when JTL was just out, however i would probably have done the same if i started today. tbh i hated duties just find the best system you can find (id recommend 1 tier higher than you are) and kill stuff while checking out the system.

As far as I've seen, each person needs to do 10% damage to a specific target to earn the xp.

The way I did duty missions coming up was to push on as long as possible, then ended the mission when I got overrun. Go back, grab another, and keep at it. By the time I finished Tier 2, I had gotten good enough to fly the full missions without breaking them. For Tier 4, I did every duty mission to the end, unless I was called offline for some reason.
