Thread: Lowca pilot needs help with 'vette master mission
Isn't there a guide (or more actually) to soloing the Vette in the Pilot faq?
Maybe that can help you.
Good luck!
Hopefully today after the Gorax/Krayt hunt or tomorrow afternoon I'll finish that last Tier4 box. Then I'll be right there with ya.....I might not help much with technique but, at least you wont die alone. hehe.

It's certainly easier if you catch the Vette nearer the entry point, and having two people there would make the escorts MUCH easier.
I agree with this.
I ended up taking out the vette with a friend of mine. We started on it right up near the entry point. I needed his help in taking out the escorts. He got blown up a few times, which really cut into taking the vette out.
Eventually, I had to work fast at disabling the engines, because the Vette was inching closer and closer to the Exit point. I took out the shields, then focused on the engines.
When I was done with that, the vette sat dead in space and I went to work on the GBs, they reached the Exit point and just started circling...
So, I finished off the rest of the guns on the vette, using angles to my advantage and then took out the reactor and then finished the vette off.
After the last of the Fighter escort and turret 5 on the Vette, I took the rest of it down on my own.

I hadbeen starting out by taking out weapon 5, hitting iff, then boosting away to draw off the fighters. I turn on them, take them out (after getting blown up once or twice usually), then go to work on the shields. Last night I thought I was really close. I ignored the fighters completely and went right forgun 5 and the shields, got blown up twice but I got the primary shields down to almost 0; then the 'vette went into a seizure and hypered out. It was pretty close to the exit point, but if I had been more skillful, I feel I still should have made in time. The circling leftover fighters and gunboats would have been dangerous, but I have cleaned up after others before, so those I could handle. I could always keep coming back to them since there wouldn't be a time contstraint.
I'm pretty sure the 'vette will spawn at around 8:30 EST. It seems to show at around 30min past the even numbered hour. So maybe I can catch it as soon as it shows for once. Still, I think I will need all the help I can get. But no matter what, I will bethere waiting for it for as long and as many times as it takes. ![]()
I have a few tips for you:
1. Get over the "I refuse to use a RotW ship" mentality. Face it freelancers got screwed with the fast, maneuverable fighters. If you don't want to use a JSF or Bel-22, get a vaksai. It is a freelance only ship and can be very formitable with the right equipment. Just get the best weapon, engine, and sheild you can find and use.
2. I understand not being able to wait around for 2 hours for the vette to show... just keep checking. Eventually you will catch it. Make sure you have the waypoints in your datapad so you know where to look.
3. Missiles are your friends. You don't have to have line of sight to hit a specific component. Use Proton MK3 (or 4 can't remeber if those are an ace cert) or spacebomb 1. Make sure you have at least2 (1 for each shield)
4. Tactics... read the guides about killing the vette. Learn the blind spots. Really good info there.
5. Move... never fly straight when fighting a vette. Even in a krayt or YT, you don't have the shields for it. If you take more than half you shields in damage get out of range unless you are heading for a blind spot. If you are 200m from the vette and your shields go less than a 1/4, you better move like an epileptic at a rave because otherwise you are dead.
