The droid interface for your ship is what allows your flight comp to issue commands TO the ship.
Also, if you have the commands listed in your CTRL-S window then you don't need to actually buy a chip for them, you can program them directly. The sheer brilliance of the command system is that you can purchase preprogrammed droid chips from pilots in different factions enabling you to use programs you don't actually have in your own skill tree.

Thanks! My flight computer is up and running now! By the way, do you only need the "programmed chips" for commands you don't have in your skill tree?

The Droid command Chips are for doing what you've already done... programming Them. The Chips can then be traded to others. If you didn't know, this allows Any Pilot, in Any Faction to have access to Any Droid Command. The Chips are One use only though, and the commands still take the same amount of room in your Droid / Flight Computer as they normally would.

I've read the FAQ, but still can't figure this out...here is what I've done so far:
- I got an unprogrammed droid chip...and programmed "WeaponsOverload - 2"
- I can analyze the chip in my inventory, but I don't have an option to transfer it to my datapad
- I have a level-2 "Droid Interface" for my tie, but I don't know how to install droid chips
Please help..I feel like a mega-NooB. Also, Is there a difference between a droid interface and a flight computer?
