Thread: Help me with Imperial Pilot training.. Trainer only gives missions, won't train

I'm an Imperial Pilot and my stats are 2 2 2 2. I qualify for a Tier 3 skill but my trainer , who is on Yavin IV, will only give me missions and not training. I don't want to do the missions because I won't get any XP for them, because my XP is capped until I train.

Why can't I get training? Please help?

Tier 3 is trained by running missions.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

Each box is trained after a mission. you will keep what xp you have. you are probably maxed at 1 mil xp right? you will still have that once you finish tier 3 and can use it for the first tier 4 box.

But as the first reply stated, you do missions to get training for tier 3.

No i am not capped at one million. I am capped at 200,000 which is EXACTLY what I need for just ONE Tier 3 box. I always thought you could get double of what you need before being capped but I guess not.

I should be able to get ANY of the four that I want, but my trainer won't offer training only missions.

I did another mission and now I'm being sent to Endor to do missions but I dont want to do all of these missions because I'm not getting experience for it!

I finished a mission and I didn't recieve any Tier 3 skill at all. What is going on??

Do the missions until you get trained.
That's how you do tier 3. I forget exactly how many are involved.

Pilot xps work differently. when you begin a tier the cap is a single box. Once you have a box, the cap becomes a single box for the next tier.

If the missions you are being offered are Duty missions (ie he gives you a choice of 4 different things to do) you need to look closely and see if there's an additional choice about training on the list. If he's only offering a storyline mission, then you MUST complete it before you can train. Capped or not, you've got to get the mission done.

Don't worry about xps for tier3, since those boxes are free. Everything in tier3 gets applied to your first box of tier4, no grinding required, just missions. Bite the bullet, do the story mission, then keep doing them and training after each one. If it goes well you will have 1mill byt the time you get to tier4. If not, you might have a little grinding to do.

The XP just won't accumulate for the first Tier 3 mission, once you train to a single Tier 3 box, your cap will be 1 million. Oh, and you'll train AFTER mission completion.

Welcome to Storm Squadron. Congratulations, you blindly picked the hardest squadron in the game for your first. This will likely be a fairly painful experience for you.

Denner won't train you until you finish his missions. That's the kind of hard nose guy he is. So here's what you want to do:

1. If you have the money, invest in a Heavy TIE Fighter.
2. Load up the best equipment you can find. Shields, engine, and gun should be your highest priority.
3. Get friends. The first time through is so much easier with them.
4. When you get through this, resist the urge to get your new ship box. Equipment III or Astromech III will serve you much better.
5. When you get Astromech III, go out and buy a v4 Flight Computer immediately. Also buy chips for Reactor Overload 3, Capacitor Overcharge 3, and Capacitor to Shield Shunt 4. Load Engine Overload 3 and Weapon Overload 3 into it from your own list, as well as those three programs. Run all of them buy Cap to Shield Shunt before starting ANY mission. They make a major difference. Cap to Shield Shunt dumps your capacitor energy into your shields, recharging them in battle.

Good luck with the missions.

This is freaking ridiculous! I am doing a mission, and as soon as I finish it, I get slapped with another one. I don't have time to rest or go back and train or anything. I thought after each mission you get training, but instead it just gives me another mission here in Endor IMMEDIATELY. This is BS.

I already died and never once from the MISSION SHIPS, but from STUPIDTIER 4 PIRATES that just happen to be "nearby" and attack me because I fly too close to them. They aren't even part of the mission and I die because of them.

This is bullcrap. If you are on a mission, you should have to fight the mission ships and thats it. Why does it keep giving me mission after mission?

The only thing I hate about JTL is the missions. I figured it would be great to just grind my way up, but now I have to do MISSIONS to get XP... that is the biggest load of crap i've ever heard.

Yeah. Sucks how we can't just mindlessly grind away like the ground game, right?

Yeah, you might be happier on the ground rather than dealing with this 'BS'.

Mind your mouth. Piloting is a fundamentally different design than any ground profession. Obviously you were fooled by the little boxes and similar appearance. There's no need to freak out about it, you're simply going through culture shock. Your missions are what is known as the exit mission for tier2and a training mission for tier3and they kinda have to come one right after the other. Please stick this bar of soap until you calm down.
