So they're getting rid of the TEF on the ground, making ground like space, either covert or overt, with one exception... On the ground you cannow farm faction points PvP risk free. Just stay a combatant and farm away! Likely in response to this, the devs have seen fit to raise faction costs across the board by 50%. The old CoA bonus for imperials is also going away, so imperials are seeing a FP cost increase on faction items from 70% to 150%, so for imperials faction costs are rising almost 115%. So do we get to recieve FP in space covert now? Seems only fair to me. If we aren't getting that ability, since we still have to assume the PvP risk to earn our FP while our counterparts on land are laughing at opposing member SF units as they slaughter thier NPCs risk free, we should be appropriately compensated for said risk. I realize FP in space are probably easier to come by right now than they are on land, but with the coming changes this could easily change. I take the risk going overt every night to earn my FP, I should be rewarded more than those who just mindlessly slaughter NPCs under the warm blanket of the combatant status.

Scenario1: Login, decide to get FP in space. Launch, boot programs, go overt, and haul in 3-8k fp in a couple hours (yeah I go slow), until I get tired and stop.
Scenario2: Login, decide to get FP on the ground. Check my armor and weapons, repair same if needed. Find a Doc, stand in line for buffs, pay for buffs, find a spot to hunt Imperials. Gain how many fps in the course of a buff? Feel obligated to hunt the entire time of the buff, because well I paid for it.
I dunno, I still think 10 TIEs in space is hella less risky than 10 troopers on the ground. Space is total gravy, when it comes to FP, I don't mind the bit of added spice from being PvP enabled. That just makes for....spicy gravy

Gunboat group in Deep Space = 3 gunboats (192 FP each), 6-8 escort fighters(48-58 FP a piece) = 864-1040 FP per gunboat group. I can take out a gunboat group in 5-10 minutes. So that is theoretically from 5184 to 12480 FP in one hour just killing gunboat groups. Of course this is best case scenarion. I personally average about 7K per hour. I have no idea how to get that much FP on the ground at the same rate, safe or not.

on the ground you risk loosing your buffs. but in deep space, there isn't really any "risk" for being overt. the free no-decay repairs from deep space makes it a better place to get FP...

Deep space is the only "risk free" place for FP's in space.
As to weither or not how the overt system in space should be changed to parrell the ground i think depends on who many FPS your able to obtain in space vs the ground.
Right now a good pilot can earn FP's hand over fist, if its still this abundant after the Combat revamp as compared to the ground, maybe the reward should have some risk involved and stay the same as it is now?
On the other hand if space FP's is no major improvment as to ground combat, then ya maybe they should change how overt works in space too.

Yeah, but I was in Deep Space farming the corvette spawns when I get popped from the front and killed, I apear back in endor, but my armor needs a repair. In deep space, i had 948 armor decay down to something like 93.4 armor.
Didn't think there was decay in deep space.

there seems to be a goofy bug when you get killed by a gunboat or corvette. they keep shooting at you even after you've blown up. and it seems there is a small delay when you are being shot and when you respawn in normal space that causes armor damage after you've gotten the free deep space repair. the way to fix it is to just go back to deep space and leave again. it will be fixed after the second time.

Think you'll be able to farm faction on the ground a lot faster than you can now with the PvE base system going in, too. There will be lots and lots of faction spawns for both sides to fight.

I think that depends on how hard those ground base spawns are. I saw a post somewhere indicating they're no pushover.
Mobs die fast in space, so, *shrug* i guess we'll see.

getting 15fp or whatever per kill on the ground when they are much stronger than normal faction npcs that exist now won't be any more efficient.
people are going to be hurting for faction, they are going to go to people in space for it and likewise pay out the nose. for that, there's a risk you have to take of being blown up and having a minute timesink to get back at it.
