Thread: To eject or not to eject?

Forgive me if this has been answered already, but I've been flying for quite some time and I still don't know whether or not it's worth hitting that "eject" button, or just blowing up. I haven't gotten destroyed often, and when it's happened, I've typically been in a hurry to get back out there... so I aven't verified what effects there might be between the two. Someone told me that ejecting seems to cause you more wounds. I'm wondering if it saves some wear and tear on the ship/components?

Your presumptions and observations are right.

You get double (200) wounds and fatigue for ejecting, but ejecting prevents further damage to your chassis and systems. Unless you are in deepspace, then, it would be better to eject after you are disabled than wait to be destroyed.

Only eject if your stuck period. When your blown up you take a bit of damage to all your HAM bars and your ships components and chassis are decayed 10% of total hp. If you hit egect your ham bar takes TWICE the damage you would of taken if you would of been blown up and chassis will still take the 10% damage but i think components that are not destroyed in combat are not destroyed when you appear at space station.

so bottom line DO NOT hit the eject unless you dead in space and you dont havany rebel friends in system.

I have had the eject button pop up a couple time when fighting but i usaly am able to get my butt out of it. there has been a couple times i have been dead in space and hit eject. Thats only cause i had no wing men and no enemy was attacking me anymore.

I've run a few tests with the ejection function, and so far here is what I have observed : ejecting from a a ship that is in a perfect state, no damages at all on any parts, leads to the total wreckage of 1 random part in your ship ( excluding the chassis ), putting his AP and HP both to 0.
So, if in a fight, you get damaged, to the point where you're just a sitting duck in space ( engine/reactor reached 0, you can't move and just get shot at ... ), better scuttle your ship, this lead to the destruction of only one of your components ... staying in your ship will just give the enemies enough time to damage all of your components, til they reach that chassis structure and put it to 0, the nonly you go BOOM, but with a heavier damage load, hence more decay :/

Never eject unless you MUST. If you're gonna get blown up, go down fighting. Sometimes, you win instead.

Yeah, I've been basically in two situations, with little in between... either the eject button appears, but I manage to escape or otherwise survive... or I'm dead in the water, engine is out, weapons are disabled, and death is imminent. In the latter, I've usually hit the button... in the former, I knew I was taking internals, but I was otherwise winning or managing to get away. Sometimes it's a tough call, but usually it's been leaning one way or ther other.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll be sure to eject when death is knocking.

I would only eject unless absolutely necessary. That red rectangular button is only an opinion in some cases. If you can fire and maneuver then fight on.

Personally I don't eject, I will just blow up if needs be.

Although, it is very annoying, sitting there disabled, watching your shield, armor and comonents get destroyed!
