Thread: X-Wing: A ship with a history

You know, I've always been a Free Lance kind of guy. Love my Lizzy, my Krayt, my YT, but I almost always fly my Firespray (if I'm running solo).
I shot up the Rebel Vortex squad right after JTL release, but some changes have been made to the flight model so I figured I'd go for Crimson Pheonix on my alt to see how the Alliance ships felt now-a-days.
Now mind you this is coming from 98% of the time Firespray pilot but let me say, that the X-Wing is simply amazing. This thing is MADE for taking down Ties. The feel and manuverability of the ship just feels right. It's light enough to escape heavy fire, and yeah heavy enough to carry a decent load. I don't see any convergence problem at all once you get the hang of her. Heck I had her doing tail stands and spinning all over the place.
The best part about the X-Wing, though, is it's history. I was sitting there in the cockpit listening to my friend (on guild chat) who has read all the X-Wing book series. He's telling me these little details about Rogue Squad and about the lives of pilots who flew with X-Wing with great success. It's almost awe inspiring to think that you're not just sitting in a ship, but you're sitting in a iconic ship that has some hardcore SW history.

yea ive always been a fan of the x-wing and its history.
i just cant stand how ugly the angles are on it.. lol im so damn picky about that. ill probly alway pick the more smooth angle ships over flying the x-wing..such as the A-wing.
in terms of modern Jets id put the X-wing some where with an A-10 Thunderbolt and the A-wing over by the F-16 Falcon.

A-wing is definately the F-16, but i think the X is more of an F-15, while the Y is the A-10. The F-15 is a multi-role fighter/bomber, the A-10 is a close support bomber =)

well i wasnt really comparing the actual role more of the ugly duckling Look on the a-10/x-wing, for the actual roles then you would be right.
