Thread: Quick question about armor

Which is it's health in space? Only 3 stats on it: mass, armor, and hitpoints. But i'm unsure as to which is the actual health inbattle.

Both armor and hitpoints, actually. Mass only determines how much "space" it takes up on your chassis.


For all components (including armor, although it "covers" all others), hits to the component first deplete the armor stat, relative to the weapon's "vs. armor". So if you get hit for 500 damage with something that has 0.6 vs. armor, your armor loses 300 armor points. Once the armor is depleted, damage goes directly to the hit points with no damage reduction. Once the hit points hit zero, the component is disabled. Once armor components are disabled (assuming your shields are still down), your other components start taking damage the same way: first armor points (although weapons, engines, etc have nowhere near the same armor level as actual armor plating) then hitpoints.
