After posting a question about my heavy x-wing's chassis not being in very good condition over on the SW board I discovered that not only are the RotW ships a one time shot (we get only one of each kind.... forever) They are irreplaceable. Once the chassis is shot, your left with a cluncker that will blow to bits if someone looks at it wrong, or sneezes... well, I exagurate, but you get the idea: We have ships that will eventualy wear out, with no hope of replacement, or repair.
However, the shipwrights are talking about having a craftable repair kit for the chassis on these guys. How do you all feel about this? Personaly, Im all for it, I abuse my heavy x-wing, and it shows, I think it's chassis is down to something like 740. I would love to have the chance to get it back to its pristine 3k chassis (I think thats what it starts out with)
Perhaps we can get our corospondent to whisper in the dev's ear about this? Two proffessions with the same problem is better than one.
Thoughts?

10/10 chassis are perfect for PvP. Unless a pilot is specifically aiming for your engine or reactor, you'll suffer almost no decay upon death. Unless a bolt specifically hits a hotspot, you take chassis damage but no component damage.
They're also great if you know how to handle yourself.

X-wing chassis is 2k pristine condition. Mine still is 2k and it's all I've flown since I got it. If sw's want to kill of their chassis business that's fine by me.

As SW, I think we all would rather be able to craft these ships...the repair kit is basically an idea of last resort. As for killing the chassis business, I've not sold one Awing since ROTW and have only sold 1 Xwing since its release. The chassis business has been reduced to heavies, and tiers 1,2 and 5.

I thought there was no decay in PVP.

There is no decay for PvP deaths.
Actually, it's pretty much impossible to lose any ship or ship part - you only lose the armor/hitpoints.
The way repair works:
1000 dmg repaired = loss of 100 points
10 dmg repaired = loss of 1 point
Ship or Part at 9.9 or less hitpoints/armor = loss of ZERO points when repaired.
The 'misconception' that Shipwrights earn money from decay is a farce, they rarely do (except armor components). Why replace something if it still works? Only Space PvPers (near non-existant) and the uninformed care about hitpoints. Add to the fact you can repair anything to full condition (if you don't die) without decay by jumping to Deep Space for a free repair, well, you see Shipwrights get screwed....

Do overcharge type programs damage by a set amount? Or is that also a percentage?
For example if overcharging my cap takes it from 53 armor to 23 armor, what happens if decay eventually puts my cap's armor at 15, will overcharge then disable it? or will it simply damage a percentage of that 15 max condition?
Personally I use a couple lv 4 OLs and a few lv 3's and I have never had a component or chassis turn to junk, and I've been space-bourne since JTL's release.
I've actually been dyin to junk an old chassis, to take it down as low as it'll go just to see what actually does happen, but there's no way I have the time to wait for 3k of wounds to heal in med bay.... good luck finding a doc these days.

There's no decay for PvP in Deep Space. There's decay outside of Deep Space, people just get the IMPRESSION there's no PvP decay because they never take component damage because it's over in one shot and all damage is chassis-centered.

I have made some suggestions about decayless (or reduced decay) repairs, specifically in regards to one-time reward ships, though it's something I should probably bring up again soon. The BARC repair kit gives an excellent precedent and model for how to implement this kind of thing to keep shipwrights in the loop.
