I believe that a master pilot should have the ability to fly many different types of ships, instead of just faction specific ships. What I am saying is that ImperialAces should have the opportunity to fly Imperial ships as well as neutral ships. And in turn the Rebel Aces should be rated for all Rebel ships and all neutral ships. As for the Neutral aces they should be able to fly what ever factions ships they are alligned with. Aces are the cream of the crop as pilots are concerned. And I believe that the best pilots in the galaxy would be able to fly just about anything they could get their hands on.
I think that this would open up a little content for the Ace Pilots out there and allow them to explore different ship types.

Cool concept for some, yes. However I think that all of the different trees, stories and professions are a way of giving contnent to people. If you just gave everything in the game away for free then the whole thing would get very old very quick. I mastered 2 pilot professions in about 1 month and it is really not that hard. It gives us something to do.

I don't think that it should go overboard, but a few cross profession ships would be better for roleplay purposes. For example, many pirates have Z-95s so why not allow neutral players to have that, not to mention the NPC Corsec Ships seem to have both 'Lancers' which are Kimos and 'Interceptors' which are A-wings, why not allow Corsec Masters the A-wing certification?
I hope that asnew contentis added, JTL isn't ignored, and we see new ships being added to all trees. I hope we shall see some more lightweight multiperson ships (Imperial Shuttles for example) at lower levels and some new starfighters added to the collection.
While I certainly don't want to see the individuality of the different factions destroyed, it would be nice to see some more consistancy with NPCs of that faction and some more ships to bulk out our selection.

Pay Prestige for additional certs. Maybe.
Earn Bonus certs for each pilot profession you master. Better.
Get certs for free, just because you're bored? No way.

Now the pay Prestige for addition certs is an excellent idea. Wish I would have thought of it!!!!

Excellent use of Prestige! I agree that master pilots should be able to fly anything and with time, i.e., prestige, they can learn too. I'm all for story and content, but switching alignments doesn't seem to be a role-playing ideal. I have a character who is a smuggler, he would join the Imperials or the Rebels.

Pretige points for ship certs is definitely a good idea.
Personally I would have liked to have seen Neutrals and Rebs get a shared pool of ships on the way up (but keep A-wing and B-Wing reb only), Imps to have only access to imp ships but for them to be much cheaper (or bought for faction points only perhaps) and perhaps have a couple more options and I Neutrals to have a greater variety of ships at Master (of comparable capabilities to their other ships of all tiers).
This is by no means to make unbalance the different factions but solely designed to increase the variety of ships that are being flown by players and to add more immersion and RP into the game.

I always thought making it so you can swap Prestige for the reward components would be a nice way to use them.
Of course it'd have to be a lot of prestige to stop everyone from getting multiples of 9 of the reward gun and RE'ing them

I agree. I always thought at least the YT should be available to Neutrals and Rebels, if not all 3 factions. I mean the Falcon did turn out to be a Rebel ship in the end. And in the Thrawn Trilogy, the Noghri (IMP) did use a YT to try to kidnap Leia (I know, I know, that's EU). And of all the MP ships, I think the YT is the most cross factional. In fact, I remember reading an early release from SOE about JTL that stated the YT would be cross factional. But anyway, I do agree that Reb and IMP pilots should be able to pilot neutral ships in their off-time. Problem with that is, how can you justify neutral pilots flying a TIE? Neutrals flying Reb ships I could understand because you see many neutral NPC's (pirates, etc) flying Z-95's and stuff.
So:
B-Wing - Rebel only
Nove Courier - Rebel and Neutral
YT - all 3 factions
Krayt - neutral only
VT-49 - IMP and neutral
Oppressor - IMP only
I think that strikes a decent balance. You could even give neutrals a new MP ships all to themselves to make up for the YT going cross factional.
P.S. Prestige points for new certs - great idea! Finally give master pilots something to do! Q: is there anything to do with prestige points as they stand now?
