right now i'm workin on tier 2 (1,2,2,1) and i'm on one of those post skill learning missions. however i keep dying constantly. i was wondering should keep using my z95 or go up to the ywing? or perhaps just get upgrades on all my components. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Upgrade regardless. Good components usually make much more difference than what kind of ship you use. Check out player vendors, especially for armor.

If you can get a high speed engine (60+ on all speeds), decent shields, and strong weapons, you might like the Z95 for some time yet. But you need to find all of those things with low mass. The Y-wing is tougher to fly, but accepts so much mass that you can put almost anything on it. Such as enough shields and armor to Not Die.

Good luck!

Long ago they were cool. Now they're everywhere, and hard to tell apart.

honestly......at tier 2, are you really dying that much? I dont think I upgraded until I got my longprobe, and that was before starter ships were upgradable. Before CtSS, too...granted, the AI was dumber back then but still, you might wanna pick up some duty missions and just practice dogfight tactics, and you'll get some loot drops to keep your ship up to par with your skills as they improve.

I have to disagree with those saying the LP or regular Y is essential. The Z-95 will carry you through until you can get your X-wing. The trick (as I see it) is to have only essential components: engine, capacitor, weapon, shields. You want the best (fastest) engine you can find, and a lvl 3 or 4 weapon, with decent shields and cap. That's all you really need until you get your X-wing.

you're so wrong....you want the best guns you're certed for, you want a droid interface for overload and CtSS, you want the best shields you can handle...you arent going to fit all that in a Z95 at 2322. Armor you can do witha little tier 1 crafted, just to keep your components from decaying, booster is convenient but not necessary, but everything else pretty much is and thats not a lot of room for flexibility.

I used my Z95 to grind all the way to 2211, got 1211 first then qualified for the Ywing Lawn Pig. I used my starter ship before you could customized them thru 0100 then got a Z95 chassis, and outfitted that..of course all my chassis and most of my parts have been free since my guild shares all loot. If money is not a problem I would upgrade my Z95 now. then when you qualify for the Y-LP, load it out good and get 2322 next, load it out better and do the next mission for the Xwing cert. Once you get the Xwing you will never look back. I didn't use my Y-LP ever again after getting Xwing cert. I keep my X, A and B wings in my data pad
