Hi, hope you can help me with a small problem.
As the subject states I'm a Rebel attached to the Vortex Squadron. My training level currently is 4,3,3,4. I've got enough xp to move up to Master training (2431244) except of course that you have to complete four missions assigned by your trainer first. (At least I think it is four missions. I've complete two thus far.)
I've attempted the third mission about a week ago with a team of two, but it failed when I hypered out of the sector to repair my ship. This week I thought I would hedge my bet by using more pilots; ended up with three ace's one tier IV 4,4,4,4 and me.
We got grouped up before I went to my trainer to get the mission. Old Brother Extok Evin gave me a tongue lashing for not completing the mission the first time and told me to get my sorry self up there and take out the Inquisitor before he reaches his destination. I'm apologetic, accept the mission and me and my rather impressive squadron head back to Lok space to do it right this time.
Here's where we ran into my problem. First part of the mission is to escort a freighter through enemy space. We do it with no problem and are then told to do another escort, and then another, and another. About this time my buddies are wondering what gives; I read the find print in my mission journal and discover that it is a DUTY MISSION. 
When Bro Extok gave me the mission it sounded like he was assigning me THE mission and not a duty mission. It's not easy to get four or five high level pilots to drop what they're doing to take a mission for a lower rated pilot. They're willing to do it, but nobody needs duty missions.
I'mbackat Bro Extok's missionheadquarters and he's talking the same talk he did last time. 
My question; can anyone tell me how to distinguish an offer for a duty mission, which I don't need and the real mission that moves me ever closer to my Master studies?
Is this a bug?
What's goin' on here?

Some of the time if you check you mission in your Data pad and click on it don't double click just move your cursor over it and click andhold your button down over itin the datapad it'll bring up a tabto examine it or to abort it...normally on Missions it'll give the option to "Abort Mission"..if its a duty mission normally it gives you a "End Duty Mission"
Also if your on Tier 4 then you always have 1 mission between training..so you Train then have a Required Mission...after that you only have duty mission till you train again...then after training again you get another Required Mission...so if you've already done a Required mission but havn't trained yet..you won't get a required mission till you get enuff XP to train again..after which you get another required mission....as well as after training your last box he will send you on your Last required Exit mission before sending you off to your last trainer for the 2 Kessel missions...

Make sure your datapad is clear of space missions, and double check the mission given before launching, best policy.

from what ive seen some trainers will try to give you a duty right after you do the required mission for your next skill box regardless of if you have the xp or not. you can take one and then "end duty" like stated above or hit the "im ready for training" chat option when the trainer gives you the list of availible duties.
you should be getting your third tier4 box if you talk to your trainer agian. after that you have 2 more missions from him and then he sends you to your master trainer.

Actually this is a bug, I had the same exact problem. It isn't that you are supposed to get a duty mission it just gives you one at this point in time if you fail to kill the inquisitor a couple times. I just told my group to wait up, retook the mission and it was the right one when I went back up. Was too lazy to right it all up, but you did But definitely a bug that should be reported, as I don't think it is known yet.

Thank you everybody, thank you. I'm glad I now know how it works. I can quickly dispense with the duty mission and be able to call the squadron together on the real Milssion. You guys are great!
