I dunno, I just failed four times in a row on this same mission. I was playing right up until near the shutdown for the hot fix. There were no other players in the zone that I saw. I never got an update after inspecting, disabling and docking with the ship. Very frustrating. I bugged it, but kinda hope I am doing something wrong.

It is fixed, I know because I had the same problem up until a few days ago.
You have to find the Nym Cannon Ship that is YOURS. I know it sounds dumb, but other people doing the mission at the same time leads to a variety of the same ship spawning, so it is easiest to do when few people are online/trying the same mission. Here's how I did it;
Take the mission, find a ship, inspect it, hyperspace out, fail. I don't know why you have to fail first time, but it seems you do.
Talk to the trainer again who sends you backto get the orders. DON'T DELETE THE MISSION AFTER YOU FAILED IT! When you go back, inspect the Nym ships until you find the one that is yours. I was lucky and found it first go on the second mission, and note you will get the mission complete immediately after undocking.
It can be done, it's just a bit odd at the moment. Good luck!
