Thread: Tie Advanced Outfitting

Speak to me, o hallowed pilots of the Empire. What is the best way to outfit a TIE Advanced (in terms of craftable items, since they should be about the same game-wide). What weaponry should i go for, engines to focus on, reactors, shields, etc. The gist of this post's request is: what is a good, balanced TIE Advanced?

Reason i ask is, as it stands, i just came back from a SEVERAL month hiatus and am looking to finish pilot - so i'm lost on what i need and notice a surprising lack of FAQ's on the proper way to outfit your ship. So, inspire me.

Lots of options in equipping your ship, and it really depends on your flight style. In my Advanced, I came up with a setup something along the lines of what's below. I'm listing parts in order of importance to me.

A 14k reactor, looted. Around 13k mass maybe, but it lets me run Reactor Overload 4, Engine Overload 4, Cap overcharge 3, and weapon overload 3 without disabling the rest of my rig. And since we're on the subject of computer programs, I also run Capacitor to Shield Shunt 3.

My pre-nerf reward engine, 92 speed and 60ish YPR. 13k ish weight - I recommend a good manuverable engine for Tier 4, concentrate on a YPR above 60 at the minimum, speed is less of an issue.

A crafted Advanced Blaster, and a smaller Tier 3 gun.

A good shield, 9.00 regen minimum.

A decent capacitor - with Cap Overcharge 3 you won't need much here, even with two guns.

Everything else is just a matter of what you can fit into your TIE. I was able to solo Tier 4 in Black Epsilon with my ship, and even took the Corvette solo. The TIE Advanced is a great little ship!

i'm in definite agreeance...the tie advanced is a very nice ship. my layout roughly is this...(i'm at work so i don't have the exact specs)

chassis 80k mass

13k reactor, lvl 1, 3-4k mass

900 capacitor, 40 recharge, lvl 1 3-4k mass

engine lvl 6, 89 speed, 62 ypr

2 lvl 7 guns, 3k dmg, about 20k mass a piece

2000+ shields with 11 recharge, 18k mass

booster, lvl 1, 1.5k mass (boosters aren't a big deal to me)

droid interface, 27 spd, 1k mass

i think that's about it...as you can see, i still have a little bit of extra space on there. i run Reactor Overload 2, Engine Overload 3, and Weapon Overload 3. Love it a lot, the tie advanced is probably my favorite ship. it handles like a interceptor with almost twice the mass. you can't beat that!

Double-check the mass on that reactor. A Mark III reactor that puts out 14k generation should be about 8200-8300 mass.

No armor plating?

Double check your chassis mass there, it can't be that high...

Also, a Mark I crafted droid interface is about 27 speed for <450 mass. A Mark II is about 22 speed for 1k mass. 5 seconds of droid speed or enough mass for an armor plate there...

nope, don't use armor at all...i don't know, the only ship i ever used it on was the bomber. about the chassis...now that i think about it, it may not be that high. maybe only 60-70k...i can't remember right now. (like i said i'm at work and not looking at my specs right now) and as for the DI, again, not looking at my specs, but now that you say that, you're right. i can't really remember if i have a level 1 or level 2 DI, but i do know it's fairly low level. Regardless, I've never really had any problems with mass on it,and it's a great balance between the interceptor type and the bomber type.

everything in my layout is actually looted except for my shields. i think one of the guns might be the reward gun from SS. but yeah, the only thing crafted is the shields.

When I customize Advanceds for customers, this is how I build them:

2 level 7 blasters with max speed (.263), 14.6K mass each
1 level 7 engine with 90 speed, 13.4K mass (can also use level 6 reward engine for same mass)
1 level 7 shield with minimized mass, 1775 HP, 14.2K mass
1 level 1 reactor, 12300 energy, 1.3K mass
1 level 2 RE'd capacitor, 32-38 recharge, 750-950 energy, 1.5K mass
1 level 1 booster, 32.4 speed, 1080 mass
1 level 1 droid interface, 500 mass
1 chaff launcher, 860 mass
2 level 1 armor plates, 240 armor, 970 mass each

It comes out to right around 65K mass. You'll need to run RO3 or 4 to meet the energy demands, but other than that it's a pretty fine ship right off the bat.

hmm...that's a pretty nice layout, tomorainer. so you sell the whole layout, with the chassis and all? generally how much would that run for, just out of curiosity.

I mostly just sell high-end components, but I put together fully-fitted ships for people now and then. Let's see.. the chassis there would run 240K, then another 325-400K for the parts, depending on the quality of the capacitor. So around 550-650K in total.

First off, I have to admit my newly found love affair with this ship. I've been rebel since launch, and grudgingly decided to try the imp side because I'm going to master all squadrons. I'm a big fan of the fast, nimble ships and I always thought the A-wing would bring me back, but when I went out the first time in my Advanced, my face looked like this: All the maneuverability of an A-wing, with 2 guns that fire from thesame spot with zero convergence is a dream come true. [/endtangent]

My ship setup is easily attainable because it's mostly crafted parts, with a reward engine andcommonly looted cap. The prenerf DI is the only thing that might be a prob, so just sub a basic crafted one. When I get my reward engine RE'd down to 9k mass, I'll probably use the surplus to put the reward booster in.

Reactor: crafted Mark I. 12,581 power 1326 mass

Engine: lvl 6 reward engine. non-RE'd 13,700 mass

Shield: crafted mark IV. 1900 hp, 11.34 regen, 16,895 mass

Cap: looted lvl 2, non-RE'd. 823 power, 32.8 regen, 1760 mass

Booster: crafted mark I. 840 mass

DI: prenerf lvl 1. 15.4 spd, 446 mass

Weapon (2 identical): crafted advanced blasters. 1500-2900 dmg, .35 refire, 14,792 mass

Total: 64,616/64,849
